I had a very negative experience with this company. They rescheduled at the last minute. The supervisor said that I hadn't paid to have two televisions moved. I had to dig up the contract to show him that I had. They demanded that I pay in cash. Is that normal?

Worst. Moving. Company. Ever. I moved from Northern NJ to just outside of Atlanta, and while the crew that helped pack up was amazing, efficent, and cared for my items, the same cannot be said of anybody else. The "estimate" i was given was a third of the actual cost. 1/3. We're talking about 6000 more than we agreed upon, and the guy even walked thru the house with me.
Once they got to the place in Georgia, they insisted on payment, which is fine. What isn't fine, is they fly-by-night day laborers that parked on my front lawn. We were told when we left NJ that we would be standing there with the manifest, and checking things off as they came off the truck. Nope. They just started hauling it out.
Pure chaos with 7 people moving all your stuff.
Then we were also told - that they would reassemble tables, beds, etc - just like they disassembled them (with care) in NJ.
Not the case. The driver even went so far as to tell my father to "have your son do it" when it came to reassembling things.
Lo and behold - several boxes were missing. My personal affects, reading glasses, and a few boxes of Xmas decorations which have been in my family for years.
After a long letter, and back and forth with customer service, it's over a year after the move, and no restitution was made.
This place is a joke, run by sheisty clowns. AVOID!

Company is grossly negligent. On January 29, 2014. I hired this company to move my mother's property from NYC to New Port Richey, Florida. They promised that the property was going to be sent out in the next truck, which left a day after I scheduled my pick up. They said, I should receive it in a few days.. The property was stored at their warehouse for about two weeks before it was sent down. I kept getting the run around from Nicole Patrick, who is the Customer Service Manager. She kept telling me that the truck was first stuck in snow then that it broke down and she could not reach the driver. I believe now that it may have been in an accident because of all the damages to our property. Finally when my mother's property arrived almost a month later, every box had some sort of damage. Boxes that were not only carefully wrapped by us but also the stuff they wrapped were damaged. We also had several boxes that were missing and other people property delivered to us. They caused over 2,500.00 worth of damages and only want to give us less than 100.00 dollars because we did not pay for extra insurance. This company was grossly negligent in this move and should not be trusted. I made a complaint with the BBB but the company have nothing to fear because the already have a F rating with them. My next step is complaining to the NJ Office of Attorney General, Division of Consumer Affairs

People BEWARE!!!! This is not a moving company, this is a professional scamming ring managed by a couple of jerks and thieves. I found this company online last year to move some equipment I had from my storage in Pa to my new business in Syracuse, NY. I hadn't had a lot of experience with moving companies for I rarely used them. I called and one of their 2 or so agents named James answered me. He asked me what size truck I was looking for and I told him I don't know a size, but that I will give him a list of the equipment that I'm moving and their sizes, and based on that he can tell me what size truck I need. After giving him a detailed list, he told me I need a 54 foot truck and 4 guys to lift the equipment. And told me that it will cost me 1600 to do the job. BASED ON THOSE TERMS, I agreed and the moving date was to be two days later. I paid 600 while on the phone with the agent and I was to pay the rest after they move the equipment. On the scheduled day, I got a call from them saying that the truck is coming TWO HOURS LATE, They told me that during the time that they were supposed to be here and after I Got to the storage which is about 2 hours away from where I came. Having no other choice I waited. 3 hours later a 26 foot truck came in with 3 workers. WTF, I was outraged, the first thing the drivers did was try to get me to sign a receipt which of course I didn't, I called the company to see what's going on and why are they not fulfilling with the agreement. When I spoke with James, he seemed to be very nervous and did not know what to say, so he switched the line over to his boss, the head of the whole scam. When I asked him what's going on, he rudely told me that, this is the only size truck that they have. If that's the only size that why did you make up the size that you told me about?. Anyways, I asked him, how will he fit all the EQUIPMENT THT ARE ON THE LIST, he said, that's not his problem, and that If the equipment doesn't fit, he'll send another 26ft truck, hence, I know where he got the number 54, and that I will pay another 1600 to get the job done. So the job went from 1600 to 3200. Obviously at that time I knew it was a scam and SO DID HIS DRIVERS WHO SAID THAT HE HAD DONE THIS TO MANY OTHER CUSTOMERS. I refused this and asked him to refund my 600 dollars if he does not want to stick to the original agreement, He didn't refunded it, wasted my entire day and lost me a lot of money like car gas. It has been a year now since this problem and I'm still trying to get my money back through American express, and he is not only refusing to refund, HE EVEN FORGED MY SIGNITURE, WHICH LOOKS NOTHING LIKE MY REAL SIGNITURE. THIS SIUATION IS SO BAD THAT I MIGHT HAVE TO SPEND MORE TIME AND MONEY TO HIRE A LAWYER AND TAKE THIS S*O*B THIEF TO COURT. STAY AWAY AND SPARE YOURSELF THE HEADACHE AND DRAMA.

The saviors!
Before I approached Universe Express, I had confirmed another moving company. With everything in place for the move, I ran into a glitch with the 'Certificate of Insurance'. So, I reached out to Universe Express - last minute - to set up a move. Fortunately enough, they were willing to make it work and they did not try and hike the price by taking advantage of my situation.
Note: For those of you looking to move in/out of an apartment, the COI is something you may have to ask your leasing folks about - may or may not be required - I learnt the hard way
The move:
The move was from Hoboken, NJ to Princeton, NJ. Universe Express were able to get everything in order within the four days left for the move and made sure that I also got the time slot that was requested (considering it was a weekend and the first day of the new month). Lola was the person assigned and she was absolutely fantastic in responding to my emails and phone calls.
On the actual day of the move, they movers arrived promptly and started the move on time. The movers themselves were courteous and took good care of the furniture/boxes.
If I ever have to move again (hopefully not for a while!), I'll certainly use Universe Express. No second thoughts here.
Caution:
The only thing that you should be aware of - there's a $100 fee they charge to your credit card which they file during the confirmation period. This is in addition to any payment you will be making to them for the move. Consider this extra amount when you use these guys.
Overall, great experience.
