U-Haul Moving & Storage of Chelsea

Incredibly bad experience start to finish. This is a surprise because I've never had a bad experience with U-Haul.
-Bird crap all over vehicle -wrong vehicle - uncooperative cashier - incorrect information regarding returns - inability to take responsibility
I hope the U-Haul corporate office takes notice. When the return was complete there were at least 6 other dissatisfied customers - so this is not an isolated instance.

To potential customer - Do your best to use a different U-Haul branch

I needed to move from Chelsea to NoMad. Based on the reviews here I called Budget... well Budget closed their Chelsea location. So I called U Haul Chelsea after reading some of these negative reviews hoping for the best.

My hopes were answered. The reservation was handled with courtesy and with respect. I only gave 48 hours notice of when I needed the truck. No problem. I got the size I needed.

That was the start of good things. I walked into the store. It is well laid out and helpfully stocked with plenty of things never thought about. Mattress bag to keep the mattress clean. Check. Dish box with foam sleeves. Check. Strapping tape. Check. Blankets to rent. Check. Furniture dolly to rent. Check. Hand truck to rent. Check.

This was super convenient and super fast. There were plenty of people on hand to help. I worked well. I bought bubble wrap that I never used in the move. Can it be returned? Check. Back on my credit card.

The whole gas in the truck thing is made super clear. No problems. Returning the truck. Again no problem. Out at 9 AM and back at 3:30 PM. No problem.

This is a well run operation. I recommend U Haul Chelsea because they made a busy day of moving from the transportation side of things as painless as possible.

Just Excellent U Haul ... Just Excellent.

Pretty upset with my experience with this U-Haul location. Booked a U-Haul that showed it was available for my location pick up and drop off. On Friday evening around 8pm received a call that my truck was unavailable for drop off at the location right by my move location and would have to drop off at a different location out of the way for $100 more than the original price, which at that point is the price of professional movers. Leaves me with one day to figure out my move situation since they called me so last minute and told me it was more expensive. Why would I pay more to drop off at a location that's not even close.

Incompetent staff and worst customer service. You would think the managers are slightly more skilled than the associates to rectify issues and provide customer service, but sadly mistaken as the apple doesn't fall far from the tree. If you see the name tags Iann or Charmaine as acting managers just run as fast as you can and find resolution with corporate customer service.

I rented a van from the Chelsea location and had no problems what so ever. I booked online in minutes, showed up, signed the paperwork, bought a couple boxes, did my move, and returned the van 6 hours later. The total was around $70 which included insurance and the three boxes. Everyone was friendly and helpful and efficient. No complaints here.
