Reviews to Trueway Vision Care
Dr. Korieocha, Stellamaria Ngozi, OD is very nasty and disrespectful. She faults her patients and not her staff who is very unprofessional. They were suppose to have checked the insurance and did not disclose to the patient what they found. Found information on insurance and wasn't the correct insurance and then did not confirm still worked for the same organization. Now none of this information was checked before the started the exam and waited until after the exam to give this over the top price. Patient had to call the insurance company to straighten out the situation. They were suppose to call back and didn't call. So the patient had to go back to the office. No apology, very whatever attitude. So below if you are reading the review this is totally correct. The Doctor is even worse for telling me that it is our responsibility to check or coverage. We told you the right coverage and you didn't do your homework. I would never recommend this location. They are very unprofessional. They are scams artists and only want to get the money for them. The insurance covered anything and the only out of pocket expense was less than $100.00 the original charge was close to $400.00 you do the math.

If I could give no stars I would. Find some place else to go!
First off, their eye exam policies are whack. There's the contact lenses exam and then a "fitting fee." Both are expensive, sold separately, and necessary to get a prescription there. The customer is being nickled and dimed, but I guess that's standard operating procedure for NJ.
Second, the receptionist kept trying to tell me that my insurance didn't cover my eye exam, but it covered all these other "optional services" that I could elect for. Essentially trying to get me to pay for more services "because they were free anyways, but sadly not my eye exam."
Now, I have decent vision insurance that will annually cover a lump sum of expenses for vision care, allocated to an eye exam and lenses or contacts (not both). I called my insurance company beforehand to learn about my coverage. I calmly and politely tried explaining what my coverage was to the receptionist, and she got nasty real quick.
So I called my insurance company AND HAD THE REP TALK DIRECTLY TO HER TO EXPLAIN MY BENEFITS. Receptionist tells the insurance rep, "I understand how the coverage works. This customer is just trying to get out of paying her bill."
Seriously????! I was in their office for two hours after my appointment and called my insurance company THREE TIMES, had them talk to the receptionist TWICE, until she finally acknowledged that the funds from my insurance could be applied towards my eye exam. My insurance also covered a box of contact lenses, but Tru Way never called me to let me know that they came in (they said they would).
And lastly, I didn't want to solicit any more of this business' services, so I asked for a written prescription so that I could buy my contacts and glasses elsewhere WHICH IS MY RIGHT BY LAW. After much hesitation and attempted interrogation, I was begrudgingly given a prescription. On the prescription, the doctor scribbled my prescription across the top, WITH NO KEY TO TELL ME WHAT EACH VALUE MEANT.
In general, Orange is a horrible place to go and the town does not excel in customer service, nor are the locals particularly motivated to be informed consumers. This business fits in the town perfectly and preys on customers who are not informed on their insurance policy and will just "take their word for it." I want to warn anyone considering Truway for vision services to stay away. Do not support them.
