Tokuyama salon East Village

Let me put it this way: been to many japanese salons as I have long hair, Tokuya is a genius, hands down.

Had the best haircut of my life here this afternoon. Kazu did what I asked him to do, but much better than I could have imagined. Very gently blew my mind.

Me and my husband think that Taka, the owner/head stylist of the salon is amazing and no one cuts and styles hair like he does!

I can't say enough good things about this place, the decor, the music, the service, the prices, the products and the stylist were all perfection.

I got the groupon for a haircut + deep conditioning. The treatment smells amazing and totally rejuvenated my natural yet super dry hair. The stylist was meticulous and I am in love with my cut.

So excited to find such a great hair spot !

I have never paid more than $35 for a haircut... until now.

I initially came across Tokuyama via a Groupon deal. Deciding it was about time to "splurge" on a haircut, I checked out Tokuyama's EV reviews on Yelp and decided to give it a go.

Wow. Kazu is incredible, asking if I wear my hair in a ponytail, if I blowdry, etc. He meticulously washed, cut, and blow dried my hair, spending a great amount of attention and detail. ~90 minutes later, I was flipping my hair as if I were in a hair commercial.

That was 4 months ago. Today I went back to Kazu and *gasp* spent the full price on the haircut of $65, which by NYC standards is still a great deal. This is how great he is. Highly recommend.
