We recently finished a full-scale bathroom renovation in Jackson Heights. This was a 1946 building so we took the old bathroom down to the studs. We wanted a timeless look so we went with Kohler deep soaking tub with marble surround and deck and a console sink . For the walls, beveled white field tile and in the shower gray subway. The end result was beautiful - but I regret trying to give my business to this mom and pop shop.
I really do try to support local vendors whenever possible. I hired a brooklyn fabricator for my marble. I hired a local contractor. I subcontracted windows and floor refinishing locally. And I ordered my tiles from Tiles by Kia (mistake).
