I worked several speech therapy work assignments for Therapeutic Resources. On one occasion, Therapeutic arranged for me to work at a school as an independent contractor while I had an effective Employee Agreement with them. This situation resulted in me owing thousands in back taxes and paying the portion of taxes Therapeutic would have paid had they identified me as one of their employees vs. an IC working directly for the school. I did not realize what happened until much later. When I told one of the owners, Marilyn Rosee, that I believed Therapeutic had broken my Employee Agreement by arranging for the school to pay me as an independent contractor, she did not address my concern about the broken agreement.
To any therapists doing work for this company, I highly recommend being well versed in independent contractor vs. employee status and know your rights under both.
