A great gym containing basketball courts, 200m banked track, 400m track (shared with the 200m track but continues around the gym), a 6 lane 25 yard swimming pool, a rock climbing wall, powerlifting equiment, cardio, two large studio classrooms, one spin studio, juice / food bar, sauna, hot tub, and outdoor patio. There is alot going on at chelsea piers!
I primarily use the gym for the pool, which I have found to be the best (in my limited experience) in nyc. The 6 lanes are enough to hold everyone who wants to swim even if there is a masters swim class. They provide pull buoys and boards and some other random toys for everyone to use. There is a hot tub nearby as well. The pool is located in a massive room with high ceilings and large windows to let plenty of light in.
The locker rooms provide all essentials plus some extras such as razors, combs, and mouthwash. The locker room aesthetic was not as impressive as Equinox's but it functioned all the same.
The biggest downside to the gym is the location.

I belonged to Chelsea Piers for one summer during triathlon training. The facility itself is amazing and the classes were excellent, especially the spin classes which overlook the Hudson River. It always feels slightly empty (which is nice) because of how big it is. The pool is beautiful and the pool deck that is outside is the perfect place to relax after a good swim or workout. The showers and locker rooms are impeccably clean and well-stocked with anything you could need. The biggest downfall of this place is that it is so expensive and inconveniently located. Even the closest train is still three avenues away from it. If you have a car or live way on the west side and can afford this gym, it may be for you.

This is a business that does right by me. The customer service is 5 star! The facility is amazing, the classes are tough, but the instructors really pay attention to your form. I just realized that I cannot jump rope for my chisel class, but she kept encouraging me to take it slow and I'll get the hang of it (I felt super slow, yet she was encouraging).
This place is not too shabby: from the front desk, to the fresh juices in the food lounge area, the spa, the locker room and the sun deck. There are great basketball courts, a climbing wall, an indoor track, indoor pool and I could go on and on.
Go here and focus on your physical well being. You'll not be disappointed.

By far the best gym in Manhattan. Spacious, luxurious and has everything you want in a gym and more. Swimming pool, sundeck, spacious weight training, indoor track, basketball, boxing, rock climbing, spa, volleyball and an endless list of classes available free to all members; it even has food and sushi available. Staff is well trained and helpful. Locker room is spacious and clean; it also has two saunas and showers. Highly recommend you join this gym as well. The gym members are diverse, friendly and helpful as well.
