At first it looks like a local dive bar, dingy and dark. Don't get confused sparrow has been here offering up great food and great drinks before the microbrewery revolution started. Also lambribs.

One of the best food places in queens. The flavor is just fantasmic. Great staff.

In order to have the best possible time at the Sparrow Tavern(TM) the first thing you should do when you get there is ask the bartender to make you a Don Donelly.
It's not on the menu. Greatness never is.

If you have not been to Astoria in a while and visit this place you will think you made a wrong turn somewhere, in fact the block leading from the corner where this place is to the plaza of the bridge has been "hipsterized". That's not necessarily a bad thing. It's a nice looking place, but I did not think the food was all that. I had pulled pork tacos, which were tasteless and sweet potato fries that were a soggy mess. The beer selection is decent and the service is good.

Love this spot. Been on the top of my Astoria eats list for years. They buy excellent product and serve Painted Hills beef. Slammin burger.
