My wife donna and i celebrated our tenth wedding anniversary this past weekend at the Sherry,as some of the staff referred to this magnificent hotel in the heart of manhattan. the moment we entered the lobby we knew we were in for a treat. The staff, from the doorman to the bellboy who helped us with our bags, were polite, friendly, and very informative with information about the hotel and all that it offered. Our night on the town was unforgettable and returning to the Sherry for a night cap topped off the evening perfectly.Early morning rise to breakfast in bed, courtesy of the efficient room service provide, and the delicious and very hot breakfast we enjoyed started us on a perfectly enjoyable day in New York City.Bravo to the staff and a special thanks toTheresa E Nocerino,Managing Director at the Sherry Netherland for making our stay one we will always remember.

This is by far the finest hotel that I have encountered in NYC. The location is perfect. The rooms are spacious (by NYC standards) and well-appointed. There is even a mini-fridge stocked with complementary beverages! The staff is extremely courteous and well-trained. They made my family feel like visiting royalty instead of the tourist schlubs that we are! I cannot recommend The Sherry-Netherland enough! The only criticism I can make is that the cleaning staff used harsh cleaners in our tubs and didn't rinse them out, which caused us to break out in hives (contact dermatitis)! But that can happen in any hotel - never bath in a hotel tub without rinsing first!

There's a difference between pretentious and classy and this place is definitely classy. I visited the space partly out of curiosity due to it's history and partly in search of midtown event spaces. The front desk attendant was so warm and friendly, even when letting us know we couldn't take pictures or explore. She shared a brochure detailing the history of the hotel and even showed us a picture from a book of what the lobby used to look like. They're currently planning a restoration project of the lobby frescos which I can't wait to see upon completion. There's also a secret members-only club in the basement but you'll have to know someone to find out more details :).

The Sherry-Netherland is a classically beautiful hotel. Maintained for nearly a century, it embodies old school New York opulence. There is a private members-only club in the basement that even hotel guests can't access; apparently membership is passed down through bloodlines an cannot be otherwise obtained. Service is courteous; the concierge knows quite a bit about the history of the hotel. It'll be neat to see when the original paintings on the ceiling are restored.

While I haven't had the luxury of being a guest at this hotel, I did visit with friends to admire the interior decor.
I can, however, speak to the friendly doormen and beyond friendly concierge/front desk, who took time from her day to explain some of the beautiful architecture in the lobby, currently undergoing a restoration project!
Rates start at $500/night and I think this would be a worthwhile staycation location! Don't expect to hang out in the lobby, it's very minimal as far as seating (maybe one becnH) a nod to the fact that the limited hotel rooms available are more so residences.
