Reviews to The River Café
Well if you're looking for a venue that contains more class the a public university course guide you have come to the right place.
Everything at The River Cafe is on point in my estimation. Obviously my broke-ass wasn't able to afford to actually sit down for a meal at this place. Instead I had the pleasure of enjoying The River Cafe's passed hor dourves at a holiday party in 2015. Snow gently falling on the river, top shelf whiskey and bland company made for a truly memorable experience.

This place is special.. the food is worth the price tag ($150 pre fixe), the view is quite pretty, and the service is fantastic. They give you a chair for your handbag, that says it all, lol. It's an excellent choice for a special occasion.
They do a great job putting together fairly normal dinner choices like scallop, lobster, by adding some culinary genius flavoring magic to amuse your taste buds. Such attention to detail and presentation! Seriously the food taste as good as the pictures look. I was trolling Yelp prior to my dinner trying to figure out what to get, but really, just order what YOU like. If you want to eat lobster, you damn go ahead and get the lobster. There is a tasting menu option, which is a great choice the seriously undecided for just a bit more than the 3 course menu.
For apps, I loved the scallops, but don't care too much for foie gras. The lobster main course was very good. Portion sizes are just perfect so you don't feel disgusting after all 3 rounds. I must say though, dessert was hands down the best course. The chocolate/raspberry bridge was very good.. but as soon as I tasted my pistachio dessert, I hardcore fell in love. That was the most unique and wonderfully paired dessert I've ever had!!! I'm just salivating thinking back....... Sigh! Other than that, I really enjoyed my expensive but delicously crafted cocktail (I got the floral one, sorry forgot the name!).
I would definitely come back here to celebrate a special occasion. How romantic would it be to be proposed here?? Guys in serious relationships, take notes here! It's a beautiful, classy and upscale place. Valet parking and twinkling lights outside the garden. Totally in love! Highly recommend.

I took my wife for a dinner and we had a pleasant evening.
I do not understand all the negative reviews we haven't experienced those "horrible " things.
Went there properly dressed ( no jeans/flip-flops/hoodie etc.) staff is polited (no over acting) food is excellent stunning view over lower Manhattan .
Overall : excellent restaurant with traditional serving style perfect for special occasions or just eating a meal lifted to the higher level of creating well balanced flavors in your mouth...
Definitely going back again!

My boyfriend and I went for a walk and said, lets sit for dinner. Although we were not
"dressed for fine dining " we weren't dressed for a baseball game either.
Upon entering, we were greeted by three hostesses. We entered the resturant behind another couple who were also "casually"dressed. The first hostess took care of the couple before us and questioned if we desired a table for two. We responded yes and she told us to step aside and let another hostess take care of us, who can also show us the prefix menu. She began with " this is our prefix menu and price". He responded: We did not ask to see the menu, we would like to be seated for dinner. Synchronously the minute that was said, the third hostess left her stand, handed us a business card and replied that the restaurant required reservations.... Did I mention we were asked if we had a reservation when we first entered, and none of the three interjected to say, I'm sorry this restaurant requires reservations only? Nor was this question asked to the couple seated before us. If our attire, was inappropriate, why wasn't this addressed before asking us if we had reservations ?(#1), and why proceed to ask us if we'd like a table for two?(#2)
Pretentious, condescending, ostentatious, demeaning, etc- any adjective used to define what we experienced tonight, will not suffice. I wouldn't dine here with a reservation, but again this was our experience...

My husband and I were passing through Brooklyn and after searching online for what was said to be one of the best restaurants in Brooklyn we decided to try it out... BIG MISTAKE!!! The host greeted us by letting us know that the menu is prefixed and very expensive !!! We responded with is that how you greet all of your guests? She responded with " yes we have to let all the guests know how much it will be " . After that disgusting greet we decided to try it out anyway... don't let the "posh " appearance fool you! FOOD WAS MEDIOCRE service was horrible!!! And the host was disgusting! DO NOT RECOMMENDED!
