Linda Pressler did our 2008 taxes. We bought a home in 2008 and she told us we were eligible for the First Time Home Buyers Credit. Everything was fine until we received notices in 2011 saying that we were never eligible for the Credit, and we now had to pay back the IRS the full amount, plus interest and Failure to Pay Penalties. It amounted to close to $10,000 that the IRS wanted back in a matter of days. When we talked to her about it, her response was "I'm human. I make mistakes." While we understand that mistakes can be made, we pay someone to do our taxes in order to minimize those mistakes. Additionally, this wasn't just a simple mistake- she was not knowledgeable about the current tax laws. And that is unforgivable when you are a tax accountant. She offered to pay the interest for us, however she only paid half of the interest, not the full amount. And then she stopped returning our calls. We never received the rest of the money that she had promised us. The reason we are posting this review now, so many years later, is that we are still dealing with this. We have spent hours and hours on the phone with the IRS over the past few weeks and this issue still hasn't been resolved.
