I am not happy with the current manager, Liz Goldstein, and am frankly shocked and appaled that Equity decided to hire her as a manager and a person in charge of working with customers. Her customer service boils down to deflection of blame and patronizing delayed responses with some generic "not our fault" non-apologies. My favorite response was blaming me for not reading my emails in a timely manner because, you know, if I had only read my late night email the day before the water was turned off then I would clearly figure out how to eliminate my unreasonable need for daily showers and coffee-drinking rituals...
In reality The Pier has been steadily deteriorating and while they never fail to increase rents by about 10% every year, they don't bother making any investments into infrastructure: elevators break and stay broken for months, fire alarms going off days and nights, fishermen leaving disgusting blood and guts behind that no one cares to clean, water boiler breaks all the time (I can count at least 7 occasions when my apartment only had either cold or hot water or no water at all). If anything major breaks in the apartment that takes more than 10 minutes to fix, you'd have to chase after the maintenance guys to come back and finish the job.
After living in Manhattan for many years, I had very reasonable expectations from the management, but they really went an extra mile to make The Pier annoying for living. Some residents are really nice and we are trying to create a small community here, however, with all the problems going on, most people get annoyed and move out. My advice - run away! There're so many new apartments in JC/Hoboken (The One, Trump Towers, the Morgan just to name a few). Don't deal with Equity, you'll pay with your time and quality of living. I'm yet to see whether they'll refund my deposit when I move out (I hear they try to find bogus reasons to keep it).

With all the new construction in Jersey City I believe there are plenty of other options for luxury apartments with good service. Great location but too many service problems - water, elevators, security, nightly fire drills that drove my dog to a nervous breakdown, hotel tenants in and out all day and night with just one concierge trying to make it all work.
Old manager, Michelle was not solving tenant's problems but was genuinely trying. The new manager, Liz, seems to be enjoying the ways of the slumlord a little too much with every building problem promptly (or sometimes not so promptly) blamed on city authorities, utility companies and acts of god

Love living at The Pier! We moved in back in December of 2014 and have loved every moment of it. You simply cannot beat the location. A 5 minute walk to the PATH and a 4 minute ride to WTC. There are also lots of restaurants and bars when you walk towards Grove St. Alternatively, a $7 Uber ride will take you right into the heart of Hoboken where your options are endless.
The Concierge, Office, and Service teams are excellent here. Beginning your day with a smile and a "good morning" from the Concierge is always nice. Also, the value is incredible. We have a huge 2 bed / 2 bath at almost 1400 sqft for the same price our friends in Hoboken pay for a 1 bed. When you add in the view of the water and skyline, it's by far the best apartment I have ever lived in.
Thank you!

Generous floor plans in a prime location right on the pier. Walking distance along a nice water front boardwalk to Exchange Place or Newport PATH stations. Sun deck offers fantastic, unobstructed views over to Manhattan. Staff / doormen area very friendly. Highly pet-friendly community.
