Had the Worst dining experience-Advertised All You can Eat Special of Classic
Clambake of 11/4 lb lobster with clams/mussels/potatoes/corn--What actually came
was 1/2 lobster tail and 1 claw (2nd order, the tail's meat was old and and
inedible / daughter's 2nd order was only a claw and both orders contained 3 claims and 4 mussels first batch and NO Mussels on the 2nd batch--also took 40 mins to order 2nd serving. Totally Misrepresented and Newsday featured this on 7/31/14
Also was served soup which was in essence Hot Sauce!

My wife suggested that we go somewhere new for my 45th birthday. She suggested The Patio in Freeport. I had never heard of the place before and was thinking that if we were going to go to Freeport - shouldn't we be thinking of a place on the Nautical Mile? I started reading the reviews and they were quite mixed. What I was getting out of the reviews was poor service, watered down drinks and itty bitty but pricey portions. One thing I found was true though. The prices are a tad high, but so what, I was out to have a good time as My Day only comes around once a year. Every other day is my wife's day.
We started the night at the bar. I ordered Makers on ice and was treated to a goodish portion of the bourbon. My wife ordered a citrus Cosmo and it was definitely not watered down. While we were enjoying our drinks, we watched the bartender grab 2 bottles of rum and an ice-filled jug that looked like an oversized Mason jar. She upended the rum and only stopped when the jug was half-filled with the alcoholic mixture. Pineapple juice and cranberry topped off this concoction. This was the Patio Punch. She dropped in the straw and handed the massive drink to the poor fella that would blow a 0.25 later that night if pulled over.
We were seated next to the water at a small stone table, almost all of the seating is outside. It was a nice night and just right for outside eating. The restaurant has a decidedly retro feel and quite cozy. Firepits dot the dining area for a bit of ambiance. On the night we went, a live band (a good one) was belting out the tunes. The bandshell / dance floor is nicely removed from most of the dining area and the sound was not overpowering.
For dinner we started off with a platter for two from the raw bar. I'm not a fan of raw oysters or clams but my wife loves 'em. I ate the cold but cooked half lobster and scallops. The platter is served as two tiers and comes with three delicious dipping sauces.
Our entrees were yummy too. I ordered the strip steak which was presented over mashed potatoes and my wife ordered a brick oven pizza. Both orders were nicely portioned and tasty. My wife also ordered two glasses of sangria with dinner which explains why I had to pour her into the car to go home.
For dessert I ordered the Juniors chocolate/chocolate cake and my wife got the bananas Foster. I was not expecting the slab of cake presented to me - adorned with a fiery fountain! This was no sparkler either; it was an honest to goodness Class A firework. Nice touch. My wife was able to finish her dessert, but I could not handle the death-by-chocolate on my plate.
The wait staff was attentive and earned their keep. An error made by the waitress was handled quickly and professionally.
Yes, it was a little pricey but we could have cut down on the drinks ($12 each).
I really enjoyed my experience there and will return, maybe on a movie night (Tuesdays all summer).
In conclusion:
Great service, strong drink and good portion size away from the crowded Nautical Mile.

We went to the Patio for a birthday dinner with friends. Nice decor, Great waiter, (Mike)
other than that .......UGH
The liquor was watered down. The seafood dish with Macaroni had so little seafood,
that when we complained , it fell to deaf ears. Their wine list...... Trader Joes $2.99 Cab is a better bet then what they serve. The Manager, ...when we complained he said he would take off the drinks.. not all were taken off. He then said he would give dessert on the house....that meant 2 desserts for 4 people. When he told him we were unhappy, he said he was insulted that we indicated the bartender was watering down the drinks.
When the reservations were made and when we arrived, again it was mentioned that it was a birthday. No candle, nothing. Other customers also complained about everything too. Nice Place ...Would Never go back again!!! by the way , the couple we were with, also wrote a unfavorable review and now are getting blogs to keep our opinions to ourselves.
