I have been to the Palm Court many times and thought it would be a great place for an intimate, romantic dinner to celebrate my boyfriend's birthday. When I made the reservation I requested a table for two tucked away in a corner. I asked that the bill not be presented to my boyfriend as it was his birthday. She sent me a form that needed to be completed with my credit card details. She suggested that we arrange a special dessert with "Happy Birthday" to be sung at the table. I told her that just dessert with happy birthday written on the plate would suffice and that there was to be no singing-it is not our way and we would not want to be embarrassed. When the reservation was confirmed, I made sure that they got the charge card details and I was assured that we had a table for 2 by the fireplace and that all the details were taken care of.
We were placed at a table for 5-6 people right outside the kitchen door. The restaurant was busy so people were walking back and forth by our table. We just wanted to eat as quickly as possible so we could leave. When dessert arrived so did the lounge singer with microphone--cant wait for my boyfriend to get even (lol). When we were done with coffee and dessert--the server presented my boyfriend with the check. I was totally shocked and asked him to take the check away and check with the hostess as my credit card details were on file.
Most disappointing is the fact that I called to speak to the manager to let her know the difficulty we had. I waited over a week for a call back. Never got one.
