Clean, friendly, and convenient. The prices are great and especially reasonable if you get a shared private. Just make sure to book in advance!

The rooms are clean and are checked every day. The breakfast is ok for a Hostel. They offer bagels, cereals, peanutbutter, toast, marmelade and juice.
The very best thing of the Hostel is the backyard, the basement bar and the people there. We really enjoyed our stay because it is really nice to hang out with the other guys or to have bbq at the backyard.

NEW YORK LOFT HOSTEL BROOKLYN~ First hostel I ever stayed at on my first Journey a crossed America. Great experience and I would recommend attending any community BBQs going on or just cook in kitchen to meet other travelers from all different countries. This is New York City, keep your unattended things locked up. Don't expect it all to be there when you get back if you don't so just be smart and keep your stuff locked up. They have lockers available so have a lock ready to put on it. The rooms are huge with very many bunk beds like definitely over 20 and coed. Kind of institutionalized feeling like a YMCA lol. Showers aren't thrilling, but aside from that this place wasn't bad. Always keep your whits about ya in NYC and don't make the mistake I did of sleeping in my vehicle (van) down the street a bit further next night after checkout when they were booked up. Big mistake. Experienced an attempted break-in on that same street. So perhaps make your reservation in advance to avoid getting stranded when they're booked up. Nice graffiti pics of the neighborhood on the way to the nearest subway entrance. That's as far as you should wonder in that neighborhood, so get yourself to the station and out of that neighborhood if you're on foot. Enjoy!

Very clean, cool atmosphere. Friendly and helpful staff. Ask for blankets when you check in (they don't give you anything but a single sheet unless you ask and rooms can be cold). CONS: (1) Hostel construction right now: it can be very loud at times; (2) Subway construction: On weekends (not sure for how long) the L-line into the city is shut down and you have to backtrack on the same line to transfer or walk 10 minutes to the next line. Not the worst thing but good to know; (3) Sketchy neighbourhood: Sketchy at night, particularly when trying to walk to the M or J line at Flushing station (because the L-line is under construction on weekends). Daytime isn't so bad but I felt on guard. Might be better during the week when more shops are open (New York has a tendency to look desolate when things are closed because shops close big garage doors over their storefronts).
