Prices are not unreasonable given the location and curation. The staff knowledge is second to none and their collection is outstanding. I'm happy to patronize this business.

Bookstores will never go away so long as there are nice, independent places like this with a staff that cares.

This is quite a picturesque bookstore. Shelves are stacked floor-to-ceiling with old and new book. It looks like something out of a movie. The left side of the store holds all the new books, while the right has a large selection of old, rare, and autographed books. It's a great place to shop for a gift. Keep in mind, they specifically cater to mystery/crime/thriller novels.

Forget the criticism – The Mysterious Bookshop is still the best specialty bookstore in the U.S. and Otto Penzler remains (after 40 years) the most experienced and knowledgeable mystery bookseller of all time. Apart from Fred Bass and the Strand Bookstore at 12th and Broadway, Otto's store is worth a visit – and if you're lucky, you'll see some very rare mystery books. Dan Barber, Lansing, Michigan.
