As a resident at The Modern, I can not wait for my lease to expire. The management has been extremely unprofessional and rude. Its a struggle to even get repairs fixed (even though its a brand new building, there have been multiple water issues/floods for many residents) or even have my email returned.
The shuttle bus was apparently ordered custom and has so many seats packed inside that its a struggle to fit for even small people. Despite having so many seats on such a small van, the bus is consistently full and the building must call back up cabs for residents that wont fit.

The Modern is a beautiful building with terrific views of the GW bridge and NYC if you want to pay the premium rent. The staff in general are mostly very accommodating and friendly.
A few things to think about before renting:
Most tenants are only given one parking spot at a cost of $200.00 and only a few units are eligible for more than one spot.
Guest must pay for parking
If you need an extra key it is $25.00 per key
Elevator access cards are $75.00 if you lose yours even though they can easily deactivate them
All tenants over the age of 18 must pay $75.00 application fee even if they are your children
Sauna has been broken on several occasions
Elevators have not worked on several occasions
Apartments are very hot in winter time to the point of suffocation with only two windows to open a crack in the units
Units are quite small with not much cabinet space in the kitchen for those who cook at home
Hallways are hot and humid in summer time on most days
Pool table has been out of service for several months
Video game controls have had dead batteries and no new batteries available at front desk
Dog owners are not picking up after their dogs, dog urine on sidewalk and in garage as well as in the building on carpets and in lobby.
Dog walk area is an astro turf fenced in area in garage and smells like urine
Dogs have no where to run loose other than the astro turf fenced in area
Dog owners are provided a wash room for their dogs at a rate of $10.00 per dog
Beautiful party room but $500.00 per hour is exorbitant
Maintenance crew works hard cleaning and keeping the place presentable. Front desk employees are very friendly and cheerful.
For the money to live here I would not expect the additional small expenses for application fees, extra keys, guest parking, etc. Management is not professional once you move in.
