LaTourette Golf course is a public course and with that comes the problems of a public course. The course is fairly maintained but it could use help. The carts are old and in poor condition. The pace of play can be a problem and there are no course marshals to keep things moving. Staring tee times seem to be suggestions and not actual start times. There have been some minor improvements this past season such as a new continuous driving range mat and new yardage signs on each hole. It's a nice course that needs more work.

Course is fine. Only problem they have like many public courses, there are to many old men walking the course, and its a serious problem for pace of play. Also offer you the players club, 40 a month. Great rates for tee times come with that. Problem is if i go to tee off at 530 am were the price is 10 bucks for nine holes the course is always closed due to golf outings!!! Ridiculous...

LaTourette is a very nice course: good layout and nice location in the Staten Island Greenbelt. The clubhouse has been renovated and provides a a wonderful focal point to the course. The staff is polite and helpful (what a contrast to the days when New York City ran the course!) Here are suggestions for improvement:
- The pace of play must be faster. I am willing to pay a little more to play there if there were fewer foursomes sent out per hour.
- The course does not drain well and there are many soggy areas.
-The tee boxes need better maintenance.
- There needs to be a way to purchase golf balls at the range rather than buy tokens at the Pro Shop
- There should be some sort of restroom facilities on the course
- There should be a refreshement stand (or a cart) near the 10th tee box to avoid going back to main house.
- The parking lots need to be at least partially paved.

The Speed of plays has been a problem at LaTourette. Many clubs that are part of this PUBLIC COURSE do not start on time and many times they start wherever they want to or wherever the please to start without any consideration for people paying reservation fees for tee time spots. General management needs to take action in controlling this problem and the overbooking problem too. This golf course is very nice and it is in great shape but a 5 1/2 or 6 hour round plus 20 to 35 minutes wait per round is not a good reputation to have. (Implementation of "While We Are Young" policy should be enforced).
Also if the management could direct rangers to remind beginners and other golfers to move faster, pick up the ball when they are taking more than 6 strokes and keep a flowing pace of play, it would be very good to enjoy shorter rounds and invite more people to come back. A good example is Rutgers golf course rangers pace of play management. (4 to 4 1/2 hour round)
