As VP of Content Development and Social Media for The CollegeBound Network for more than 15 years, I'm proud of the library of resources we've built, all of which are specifically designed to ease the transition to college for traditional and adult students. At one of the many CollegeBound Network sites, you can explore and research colleges, universities, and career schools that match your interests, as well as read more about degrees, programs, careers, and college admission and financial aid process at length.

I began working for CollegeBound in 2009 as a Student Advisor. I enjoyed connecting people with opportunities to get ahead. I was able to advance with the company and am now working for its parent company, CareerCo, as Corporate Affairs Manager.
CollegeBound is a great place to work with a culture that is energetic and engaging. The company provides plenty of room for advancement, often promoting from within.

I was employed by CBN for exactly 30 days. At the interview about 6-7 weeks ago, the HR coordinator told me that after 30 days of employment (probationary period), I will receive your $2 raise (starting pay was $10) and will begin receiving commission pay, $1/valid lead. Day 30 comes up and I approach them regarding my stats. Ideally (and we were told this in the class as well), the stats should be at a certain level at the end of the month. Little did I know, I was just a tiny bit below that threshold and that they weren't giving me the raise they promised. Instead they decided they would keep me on another 2 weeks probation, after which they could either fire me, or give me the raise. I finished the shift, went back home and decided I was going to quit the job. It wasnt worth my time, effort or money to drive out to Staten Island, NY 5 days/week so that I could work for $10/hr.
Long story short, they pretty much lied to me at the interview, and didnt tell me that the actual possibility of getting a raise is based on how an individual performs on the phone. As far as performance on the phone, you may be one of the best people there, but there will be circumstances that are beyond your control that might prevent you from achieving higher goals in terms of leads. Be aware, if you do happen to get the raise, and next month you don't meet the minimum criteria, YOU WILL BE DEMOTED and placed under review again.
When you get the job, you must pay them $50 for a piece of crap headset, and good luck being able to hear well at certain points in your shift, when the entire call center is crowded with representatives. There was a time when I would rush to the office to make it there in time, and upon arrival I'd be told that there were no computers available. So I had to wait, and no I didn't get paid for that. The only time an agent would get paid is the time that they're logged into the dialer. I waited in the kitchen for 10 minutes that day to get on a computer, and that amount of time I pretty much donated to the company.
FYI, if you intend on working FULL-TIME, keep in mind, THEY DO NOT OFFER HEALTH benefits and overtime is not allowed.
There is one PRO to this job. I'd like to give credit to the trainer and the few managers I worked with, for answering my questions when I had them. The fellow agents were nice to me too.
