I visited (from London) on a Tuesday for a prayer meeting and was not disappointed. They actually stand in agreement and pray about every single prayer request (printed on small sheets and handed to every attendee including the choir) that had come through on their website. There is power in prayer. Before the mains service begun, ministry leaders prayed for anyone who had specific prayer requests.
Music was good and a powerful prayer session. i got the metro/subway and it was a short walk

It has been a life long dream of mine to go to this church and it was amazing. Not only is the Word of God preached, but the presence of the Holy Spirit and the kindness of the people were overwhelming. I encourage you to visit if ever in the area. I certainly will go back when in New York! Blessings to you Brooklyn Tabernacle.

The best church there is in NYC. Cymballa (spelling?) has an AMAZING way of speaking that gets across to everyone from every background. He was able to get my friend who grew up Catholic and stopped attending church when a child to want to come to church! We bring our friends now. Very non-judgmental. I must say I like it better as well than any other church I attended when growing up Christian. I learn something helpful each week that I can apply to my daily life. Thank you for sharing the message of love to the lost and those who lack hope or faith!

Working as an occasional tour guide in NY I used to take my groups to gospel services in Harlem. With the years this has gotten harder and harder. It is a bit overrun by tourists and you also feel the frustration a bit in most churches from the locals, I can not blame them.
I am happy I followed the advice to try the Brooklyn Tabernacle.
It is very open minded and welcoming. There are 3 services a day, 9am (mostly locals), noon and 3pm. We arrived for the noon service but were invited in to attend the end of the 9am service.
They are very flexible and accommodating. Unfortunately this day the 9am service had no choir, so we were happy to come back at noon to experience the amazing choir! So definitely check with them (again they are super friendly at guest services!) about which 2 of the 3 services the choir is singing.
