The Crookford, owned by the Haberman family, is a prime example of how poorly managed and ill maintained an owner-occupied building can be. Hot water is often out of service, elevators locked and the laundry room in this "luxury" building amounts to two washing machines for the 40+ units in the building. Evidently, there are times when location is NOT everything. We stayed here when my husband was first transferred to New York but we soon found another place to live in the neighborhood that was of much better value, hands down.
