We felt we had to let everyone know how impressed we are with the dining staff at The Amsterdam. Samantha and the servers and the people behind the scenes really did an outstanding job of taking care of us during the blizzard. To those who overextended themselves by being here on Saturday and Sunday we say a huge thank you! Sincerely, Sharon and Stan Goldaber

It's been delightful living at the Amsterdam for the past 4 years; but just now I wanted to share a recent great dining experience I had with my family. The other evening I invited my son, daughter-in-law (a vegetarian) and grandson (19, 6’4” and certifiably handsome!!!) to dine here. They arrived a little late but we got seated quickly, opened some wine and ordered. For starters, the pulled bbq salad was instantly devoured by my grandson. The exotic cranberry chicken entre ordered by both men, disappeared in what seemed seconds from my grandson's dish. I ordered the stew. It was enough for 3 football players... so full of chunks of beef that after devouring his chicken, grandson offered to help me out. There was still enough left of the stew to fill the small take out box which my beloved grandson took home for next day's lunch!! My daughter-in-law raved over the bean soup (so did my son) and her Greek salad. My polenta side was to weep!!!; better than its always greatness! Everyone ordered the chocolate cake, loved it, grandson helped me finish mine (he’s always willing to lend a hand)! Our server, Marlon, was delightfully efficient, gracious and wonderful. My son said it was the best dinner he ever had at the Amsterdam. Kudos to Chef Chris!

The Amsterdam at Harborside is a great place to enjoy an active life after retirement and it also has an added bonus – The Tuttle Center which I will describe later. My wife and I can find something to do every day. We can enjoy the pool and gym, attend lectures and musical entertainments, go to happy hour, do a little yoga or tai chi, join a card group, etc. And if we want to start up some other activity, we can do that too. We also enjoy dinner time (a meal plan is part of the package) because it is like one big family at The Amsterdam and we get to eat with different people every night.
Now, I’ll talk about that bonus, the Tuttle Center. It is part of the complex and offers a full range of health facilities which are available to residents of the Amsterdam, and all of it is available at no extra charge. For instance, if you break some bones while still an active resident, the Tuttle Center which is attached will take care of the rehab. And your spouse and friends can visit you often since it just requires walking through a door. Two years ago I did some rehab time in the Tuttle, and I got to know first-hand the value it offers. No matter what happens in the future, it is reassuring to us to realize that all of the services of the Tuttle including assisted living, skilled nursing, memory care and hospice will be there for us – and at no extra charge. In the meantime, we can relax and enjoy The Amsterdam.

- Terrible #97418
