The Alexander

We went to look at the Alexander a month ago. The apts are nice but spoke to one of the tenants that were leaving that week to ask why they were leaving and how they like it. Apparently they are not so particular on who they rent too.. They look like HIP HOP people and pole dancers. The cops have been there many times for disputes, etc. Also, they change the rental rates according to how much money they want to make on you. The pool last year had more guests/family members of the property owners than tenants. They were very unhappy and felt ripped off.

Our experience touring, leasing and now living at the Alexander (for nearly two months now) has been exceptional so far. From the second my fiancée and I first visited the new building in April, to our first few weeks living here we’ve been amazed. It’s not just the quality of the property – dramatic entry and lobby, brand new kitchen and flooring, and great views of the Hudson and Upper Manhattan. The consistently friendly and professional staff has been even more impressive.

It looks like a luxury condo or hotel and the employees who work there treat you like a guest at a resort.This started with Sue Sue who first gave us our tour and patiently answered all of questions before we signed the lease. Property managers Theresa and Wassim have been incredibly helpful and the concierge/doormen – Al, Kevin, Wakimba and Sirop are always there to open the door, find you a cart to move stuff, or just to greet you with a smile as you come home. The superintendent, Adriano and his team, have been very responsive fixing little things that needing squaring away or just showing us how to use the new appliances.

One last thing – we moved from the waterfront in Jersey City to (just about) the waterfront in Edgewater – and the rents are about 20% lower and the amenities (covered parking, garage, indoor and outdoor pool, sauna and the great tranquility garden – plus a bus stop right outside from the building) are something it would be tough to find somewhere else.

All in all – a five star review for a five star staff and property!
