Shrimp lovers beware!
I ordered extra shrimp and forgive me - asked for additional tartar sauce. The price given to me over the phone was $3.00 less than what I was actually charged. I like their takeout ok but $1.00 per shrimp is excessive and additionally $.50 for the extra tartar sauce - what the hey???!!! Make sure you're prepared to pay almost $17.00 for lunch. I'm not - they played me over the phone this Friday but no more!

I went to City Winery for two sets of music and to enjoy some wine and a meal. The venue is a great place to see artists. For the first set, I was seated on a stool at the bar. My bartender was very friendly and knowledgeable regarding the wine and beer list. I ordered the sliders (mini hamburgers) appetizer with herbed fries and prosecco sparkling wine. My only complaint about the entire evening would have to be that the sliders were not cooked medium, as I had requested, but well done. They were delicious but I prefer my burgers medium and I'm not the type to send food back unless it's really bad. Otherwise the flavor was nice and the fries were delicious.
For the second music set, I was seated at a table very close to the center of the stage. During both sets, the music was loud and clear and I loved it! I ordered the baked black cod with vanilla parsnip puree. It was fabulous! The cod had a thin, crispy exterior and moist on the inside. I had never eaten parsnips before but this puree was fantastic. I continued to enjoy prosecco during my stay at the club. Wait staff was friendly and available. I also enjoyed the orange butter cakes with pistachio ice cream for dessert. My friend at the table ordered the 10 oz. grilled rib eye steak done medium rare, the seared scallops and the local cheese tour. Everything was outstanding and the steak was perfectly cooked, unlike my sliders at the bar. The portions are just the right size and not overly priced. It's definitely worth coming her for the food first although I came her for the musical performance first.
The place is very nicely designed and very clean. It's interesting to see a place with a stainless steel urinal trough in the men's bathroom. They had a leak in the bathroom ceiling with some drops coming down through the sheet-rock and around the air duct vents. I hope they fix this problem. I can't wait to return for some more outstanding food.
The location downtown has several parking garages nearby and some muni-meter (pay) street parking on some blocks after 7pm. It's also very close to the subway station.

I've tried this place twice. The first time I got the fried fish with salad and seafood rice combo. The second time I got the Cajun tilapia with roasted veggies, salad and seafood rice, this in my opinion was way better than the fried fish I had prior, I think I'll stick to the grilled stuff going forward. The portions were large and at $10-$15 you have enough for two sittings. There's barely seating inside but plenty of seating outside the restaurant.

Obsessed with there fried shrimp. Coming here you should know that your getting deep fried goodness! So just accept it for that and you'll be golden! Super crowded at times though, but it's worth wait for me. Cash only under $10

The Fish and Chips alone are crunchy and filled with flavor. The breadsticks are amazing, crunchy and succulent. The prices are fairly high but it's the city, everything is high and this place may be reasonable.
However, they only give two pieces of fish in a ten dollar meal. Should've been four, but that's just me.
