Reviews to Targeteers Archery
Even after having read the negative reviews I decided that Targeteers sounded like a well-stocked facility with experienced staff, and decided to take the ride up there to shop for a bow.
I was delighted to find when I arrived that I was the only customer at that moment. An older gentleman named Bill helped me with a bow selection, and then spent well over an hour setting up the bow with me so that it was properly sighted in and I was comfortable with its operation.
The store is well-sized, well-stocked and the staff are obviously experienced. The indoor range is really nice - clean, professonal and "garnished" with large glassed-in cases with stuffed bear, lion, deer, etc. - very well done.
I give the store an A+. I can understand that, if they get busy, customers are going to wind up waiting a while if not quite a while for service - that's just part of the way it works. My experience was good and I can recommend this facility to someone who wants a large selection of archery product backed up by experienced personnel.
A FOLLOW UP: I had an issue with my bow yesterday - two days after I bought it - in which I must have, through fatigue after firing about 60 arrows, inadvertently rotated slightly the hand holding the bow. The result was that the bow string moved off the pulley and, when the cables detensioned the bow came apart into pieces. I took it up to Targeteers last night and Rob (the owner) not only spent almost an hour with me reassembling and re-tuning the bow (including further time spent helping me shoot arrows and refine my technique) - he refused all payment other than an $11 cable guide which was missing. That's customer service! They are concerned about their negative reviews but don't know exactly how to approach handling them. Whatever - in the meantime I don't hesitate recommending this establishment - they know their business well which means good technical advice when purchasing and then competent service if needed.

I have been to Targeteer's a few times and every time the service is not helpful. I have stood there for an hour to have my peep sight looked at and adjusted. They should suggest to make an appointment or start a 'take a number' system so customers don't stand there wasting time. You're an archery PRO shop, be professional!
I wanted to reduce my draw length by 1/2", this required a new cam from Mathews. They said I didn't need it. I ended up going to Sportsman's Rendezvous to get this work done. I am shooting much better now.
I'd rather travel Sportsman's Rendezvous in Flemington, NJ or Kenko Outfitters in Kingston, NY for a positive experience at a certified Mathews Pro-Shop.

The owner and his mother are very rude. After I spent tons of money on equipment, and lessons for myself and daughter, each and everytime we went there they spoke to us sarcastically, and obnoxiously. We were always kind and never disrespected them, unfortunately they were unable to return kindness and respect. I've noticed that we aren't the only ones who has experienced this. I don't recommend this place to anybody.

Rude to no end. U walk in there and u can literally be ignored all day unless u raise some serious concerns. I was so tuned off by the customer service that I decided to not purchase anything from there. Not to mention that everything is overpriced. I would not be returning there. Suggest u drive a little further into NJ and find another pro-shop. I honestly can not wait til the new cabela's store opens up in Woodbury, N.Y. this spring. I tried to support my local pro-shop but u know what... if I'm going to be met with overpriced merchandise and rudeness on top of it.. then forget it!

This place sucks. Went in there to get a new bow. People that work there are miserable. I thought I was invisible for the 45min. I waited there to get service. Not a word from 1 person working there. Everyone there appears to be doing you a favor, when it's YOU that is dropping more than a grand on a bow. The only positive was the 5ft tall Owner set my bow up good, but I'm sure any place you go you will walk out of the place with the bow shooting good. Do your self a favor and drive a little farther for better service.
