Reviews to Tang Maru
Around Fort Lee and Palisades Park have a lot of good Korean food, and Tang Maru is one that we frequent when we are in that area. I especially love the black goat soup, and so far all other grilled meat and stews we had tried we were happy with. One thing to note, although their banchan selection might not be as extensive as other Korean restaurants, however it includes a whole fried fish for everyone. The fish is very tender, and I enjoyed it very much even though picking on whole fish is a task I dislike. It is worth the effort. Also we can see a big pot of boiling stock at the corner of the kitchen, where all the goodness from their soups come from. Hmmmm...When should we make our next trip over there?

Excellent Korean food! The oxtail broth is my favorite, and the platters are good too.

I used to love this place.
It ruined our night tonight though.
They claim to be a BYOB restaurant, but they do not have a license. Police came, took pictures of our table, took our beer, that we bought as evidence, gave us bs about what was not our fault. Restaurant management did nothing about it.

Appears to be an authentic restaurant since all the staffers spoke Korean and a bit of English. Regardless of the language barrier, if you have any questions, the restaurant staff is very helpful! Like other authentic Korean restaurants, guests receive free sides with their meals, such as steamed egg, kimchi (radish/cabbage), rice, and rice tea. In the back of the restaurant, you will find two huge industrial sized pot-type stoves set up for cooking the soup broths. Needless to say, their storemade soups and tofu are delicious. The oyster soft tofu was amazing because the oysters added to complex flavor of the soup and the tofu was very silky. My black goat stew, octopus bibimbap, and beef soup also had a lot of great flavor. Will likely be back to try the oxtail dish. Smelled a little weird in the store when I first came in, but I realized that it must be bamboo shoots.
