Took my IDC here with Scuba Steve- a professional northeast wreck diver who knows the Long Island Diving scene better than anyone. Swim and Scuba is a great shop with both swimming and scuba diving courses and a great indoor pool for training. The retail store has all your gear needs and the classroom makes learning easy.

I have been dealing with Swim and Scuba for a number of years now and do so because the level of quality and professionalism they show is exemplary. I have had the pleasure of taking a number of Scuba classes there with different instructors and have always felt that the material was covered in a way that was both thorough and fun. My equipment was purchased and receives its annual service there and I like the fact that anyone of the staff is willing to take the time to explain any issues or questions that may arise.
I would highly recommend this shop without a moment's hesitation.

I am so thrilled to have started scuba diving classes with my husband at Swim and Scuba. It has been an amazing experience especially given the in-depth, professional and thorough training we are receiving. I have been totally impressed by the one on one support while learning, the family atmosphere, the high level of expertise and knowledge of the instructors and most importantly the attention to safety. Steve the owner, took a good amount of time before we even signed up for classes, to explain how the training would work. He is down to earth, very honest and tells you like it is, and so is his staff....the kind of people you want with you when you are 40+ feet below.....out in the ocean! It is that type of atmosphere and personal attention we were looking for! Very satisfied and would highly recommend Swim and Scuba.

My boyfriend and I signed up and completed an online PADI course. The next step is to take the pool section of your certification. We chose the closest location which was Swim and Scuba 490 RVC. With super storms Irene and Sandy destroying our home we have been a little distracted and have put our certification on hold. We did have every intention of retaking the online section again (because it expires after 1 year) and then going to Swim and Scuba 490 RVC. However, they acted out very unprofessionally and sent an atrocious email quoted for you here:

"I have sent you a e-mail about a pool class and had asked you to respond weather you could make it or not. I have not heard from you yet. I am making an effort to complete your pool training and you can’t even find the time to answer me. I will return the same courtesy when you are ready to take the class. I think it is terrible that you spent the money to get certified as a diver and you make no effort to compete it. You can’t even call me to let me know about a class. I will not contact you any longer. If you can’t even answer me then Why should I bother. It’s your money. If you want to waste it, who am I to stop you. Have a nice summer."

Unless you are positive that nothing is going to come up in your life that may interfere with your scuba certification I would not recommend this business.
