Nakazawa somewhat ruined sushi for me because nothing since can measure up. Chef's offering(s) were completely prepared for flavor, with no additions necessary (or wanted). Wonderful and well worth it.

Like many, I went to Nakazawa upon learning that Chef Nakazawa was Jiro's apprentice. Sushi Nakazawa's service is unlike anything I've ever experienced. The wait staff were knowledgeable and attentive. The nigiri was absolutely delectable and worth the high price tag. Nakazawa is quite the character!

I've eaten sushi all over the world and I must say Nakazawa is one of the best. Definitely, not your typical sushi. The Chef's creativity is superb. Fresh premium cuts of authentic sushi.
Naturally the cost for our dinner here was three times higher than your typical place in NYC; But the fish, atmosphere and service here are far better. Well worth a try.

Sushi Nakazawa is the best sushi restaurant in NYC. When I dined here, a sublime meal was not all that I took away; they also served me an unforgettable experience. The Omakase ran like a well-oiled machine — largely thanks to incredible service from the waitstaff. They were all knowledgeable, and more importantly, they were all approachable (which is not something I would say about the staff at comparable sushi houses). In terms of atmosphere, the dining room is dimly lit and adheres to the modern interior design scheme you would expect from a high-end Japanese restaurant, except that the color pallet almost exclusively sports dark grays and blacks, which I found to look really cool. As for music, it was soft enough to hear without interrupting conversation, such that you might not even notice it at all. At times, neighboring conversations grew a bit too noisy for my taste, but I believe this was largely the fault of one rather loud patron and not the fault of the restaurant itself. Finally, let me describe the food. No arrangement of words in the English language can convey how incredibly delicious my meal was. Nevertheless, if I might try... Every piece of fish melted in my mouth. But at a restaurant of Sushi Nakazawa's caliber, this is more of an expectation than an exception, and so it's not what makes Sushi Nakazawa stand out. What makes Chef Nakazawa's sushi a real cut above the rest is how perfectly the sushi is seasoned. When I closed my eyes after eating a piece, the harmony of flavors in my mouth was so in tune that after nearly ten years of imagining, I actually experienced bites of food like how Remy described them in Ratatouille for the first time ever — including the metaphorical fireworks display. If you're a sushi enthusiast, beware, because unless you plan on flying to Japan, this might just ruin sushi for you — it's as good as it gets. Indeed, Sushi Nakazawa is not just the best sushi restaurant in NYC, it is one of the foremost in the nation.

If you are looking at eating here, you have already considered the cost so I won't dock points for the extremely high cost. I instantly felt relaxed as soon as they took our coats and seated us. We weren't able to reserve the bar, but we had an incredible experience at a very private table. Each course was served with 2-4 pieces on the plate and ever nuance was explained in great detail. The fish was outstanding, and most pieces had something unique brushed or infused on the fish that made it stand out from other sushi I've enjoyed with similar quality of fish. I believe it's not worth the cost to go twice since there is other sushi that uses similar quality fish with expert preparation, but if you can afford it then this is an experience that should not be missed.
