I would give ZERO stars if that was an option.
I recently purchased a compact SCR450L refrigerator (no freezer, just fridge) from a distributer of their product- AJ Madison. The unit arrived with some visual damage and I was assured it was "only cosmetic" when I provided them photographs BEFORE using the unit. I followed the manufactures instructions and several days later put my biologics (allergy vaccines) into the refrigerator (I am a veterinarian) - which was set at level 3 (6 being the highest). When I arrived at work the next day, the biologics in the refrigerator were FROZEN. The product was ruined and it cost me over $5000 to replace the items. I immediately reported the problem and sent photographs of the frozen items. This is a fridge ONLY and should not freeze.
First, I reported this to AJ Madison (who remember, told me it was only cosmetically damaged) who gave me the run around about it not being their problem and that it was Summit's responsibility as the manufacturer of the unit. Yet- they were the ones who told me it was not damaged.
After calling Summit multiple times, I reached Paul Yan- a service representative who offered no assistance other than to say it was being accelerated to a supervisor and the "supervisor would be in touch". This did NOT happen and I have now called 5 times with NO return call.
The supervisor- Steve, who is a VP at Summit, has not returned any call or contacted me in any way and I have left multiple messages and spoke directly with his secretary. I have been attempting to get even ONE phone call over the last month- NONE!
I am VERY DISAPPOINTED in Summit. First, I bought a refrigerator and at the middle setting it froze over $5000 of product. Then, their customer service has been TERRIBLE. They are in the business of deceiving their customers.
DO NOT TRUST THEM- they are willing to LIE about their product and their level of customer service. For a large company a $5000 loss that I expect to be compensated for is crazy to ignore and I have no choice but to WARN others about their RECKLESS attention to their units.
I have photographs of the frozen biologics. Even after I took out the biologics, I thought I would see if it happened again and it froze a glass of water - SOLID. Again, this is only a fridge.

Highest quality product for the money. I have several of their appliances in my home and highly recommend them to everyone I meet.

Terrible and absolute nightmare. The unit was faulty when it was installed. The technician had no idea what he was doing. Assessed the unit incorrectly the first time. Took another two weeks for him to come again to say the whole unit needs to be replaced. Even to schedule a time frame is absurd. You don't know your time frame for a technician until 8:30am the same day and you have to call them to find out the time frame. If you're getting something replaced you can pick an AM or PM time frame. Almost two months later and still dealing with getting a new unit. The only nice thing I can say is the person who answers the phone for customer service is the only person who gets things done and is nice about it. Otherwise avoid using these people if you can.

I purchased three products from this company. I first purchased a compact deep freezer for my mother. Over 9 years and it's still going strong, no issues. I purchased a college dorm fridge for my brother. It lasted until graduation not really a disappointment since it was in a college dorm. My last purchase was a compact dishwasher. This was the only time I had to interact with the service department and I spoke with a lovely Ken Robertson and he gave me the most patient walkthru for the installation. I would recommend them to friends.

Dealing with this company is a Nightmare!! They price the products low but the products are of very cheap quality. My freezer had problems twice in the first few months and then finally broke down within the first year AND it was a different problem every time. They give you a warranty which is of no use bcoz when your product breaks down you cannot reach them. After holding for half hour every phone call people who answer the phone have no answers for you and keep telling you that someone will call you back as its none of their concern that your business is suffering. No one ever calls you back! I got an answer from them after 20 phone calls in a month. If you dial the sales dept's extn, your phone will be answered in less than 2 minutes but good luck getting any service from cust service dept.
