If you want traditional baked goods, this is not the place. They resist making cinnamon crullers no matter how many times people request them! They sell out when they do make them and yet they still won't make them unless you pester them. Patronize another bakery!! They don't care about tradition or the old Mazurs' customers.

OK, I went to Mazur's on Ridge Rd. on 2-26-15 at 7:30 pm. I knew it had been closed for a while but when I saw it was open again I thought I would be supportive and give it a try. I wasted my time and money. I bought 2 regular sized cupcakes for $3.00 a piece. I knew I was taking a chance seeing there was a giant sign in the window saying "BAKER NEEDED" and once in the store most of the shelves were empty, but I went for it anyway. The 2 cupcakes, both yellow cake were stuffed. One had chocolate frosting with a hazelnut filling and the other had cannoli cream inside and out. Both belonged in a mausoleum because they were dead. I ate the chocolate one first. Chocolate frosting is not supposed to crumble. It did. The cake itself wouldn't let go of the paper cup it was baked in. The cannoli cupcake went straight in the garbage because I had food poisoning before and feared the cream may have been past the date. I don't write reviews normally but I was pretty annoyed that these new owners are selling stale garbage at those high prices and I will never go there again. Incidentally, the reason I was up there in the first place was because I was headed for the Lyndhurst Pastry Shop and was disappointed they were closed so early. Oh well. Don't waste your money. Mazur's is dead.

I recently got married in May. The hotel I used, The Renaissance Woodbridge Hotel in Iselin, NJ, has a contract with Mazur's Bakery. I knew nothing about Mazur's and after reading some of the reviews I was quite hesitant to order my wedding cake from their bakery. But, I decided that I would go in for a cake tasting, and in the worst case scenario, I would just pick another bakery.
To be very honest, I didn't like any of the fillings or the cake---except the chocolate cake, the chocolate pudding and the oreo filling. Everything else tasted dry, too sweet, not sweet enough, etc. My fiancee and I decided to go with the chocolate cake with the chocolate pudding. The cake was very moist and the filling went perfectly with it.
I realized later, after speaking with some of my co-workers, that each layer of cake had different fillings--some had caramel, some had buttercreme and some had chocolate. One thing that was common, though, was that everyone enjoyed it.
Two critiques that I have for the cake was that a) I had a topper custom-made for our cake and when I dropped off the swatches, I also dropped off the topper. I would have hoped that whoever was delivering the cake would affix the topper to the cake. I have never seen the topper again and didn't realize it until after the wedding was over. b)my wedding colors were fuschia and orange. The fuschia looked more like a light pink and so in pictures it didn't show up as pink and you could only really see the orange. The cake was still beautiful, though.
I know that in a year, my husband and I will eat our anniversary cake, but this year, we decided to eat as much of the top layer as possible and only leave two slices for later. No need to let such a tasty cake go to waste!
Thank you, Mazur's!

I found this place on the internet and after reading some reviews, I chose them for a family celebration cake. The cake was supposed to be simple but elegant - a nice looking gift box with a white fondant bow - with vanilla, and chocolate cake inside and canoli cream filling. Let me tell you - these people can't do fondant work. This thing was horrible. The fondant work was incredibly sloppy, thick to the point that we had to peal it off the cake to eat it. The layers of cake were DRY! So dry that nobody in my entire group of 11 people finished their servings. I had to apologize to everyone for the atrocity that was that cake. We threw 95% of the cake away because it was just that terrible. It was also sooooo sweet that there was no balance. I took a picture that I hope to post when I get back home from work. If you want basic pastries or bread - they might be ok - but for a good looking cake - RUN the other way! As for me, I'll never return again.
