Sugar Bun is a full service bakery that also doubles as a breakfast/lunch spot.
I have only had breakfast here and I thoroughly enjoyed it. They have great fresh bread and bagels and the coffee is good too.
The bakery is pretty busy during the morning hours, as you might imagine.
As Romana pointed out, it seems like it is a gathering place for Seniors, which isn't a bad thing. They get some colorful characters in there.
The staff is friendly and keeps the line moving.

I used to stop by this bakery on my way to work. Their service is fast and friendly, their products are fresh and very tasty. I went their on my last visit to New York and found out they had the seven-layer cake I had been searching for AND they ship anyplace. Heaven, I'm in Heaven!!!!!

A LOT BETTER THAN STARBUCKS VERY RUDE
There. Go to sugar bun COFFEE an more WITHOUT AN EGO from staff and great atmosphere without redesigning to suit a negative attitude to the paying public.. a huh Starbuck staff attacking paying patron internet FACEBOOK A HU MM MM.

Truly the best bake shop in Howard Beach!! Delicious and well worth the trip if you live on Long Island!!!!!
