Two years ago I came to Doctor Lagstein in search of a better smile. But it wasn’t just my smile I was looking to fix; it was the worry and self-consciousness that came along with the misalignment of my teeth. I had always been told I had a nice smile but I knew it could be better. When Dr. Lagstein offered to help me and told me I could have a new smile in less than a year, I was thrilled. I was even happier about the fact that no one would know I had braces due to Dr. Lagstein’s innovative, behind the teeth technology.
With the changes in my smile month to month came a renewed sense of confidence. I felt great about the progress I was seeing and it helped me to be more out going. I know that making the first step to have treatment was the right choice for me and I know that although I don’t think about it that often anymore, that choice has propelled me forward in so many areas of life. I feel more comfortable and confident engaging in every-day conversation and I feel like I am able to be more assertive and articulate when necessary due to that confidence and not having to worry about my teeth.
A few months ago I put that confidence to the ultimate test when I competed in a national figure competition. After 4 months of training, I competed and won the Overall Novice Figure title in the International Natural Bodybuilding Federation’s (INBF) Northeast Classic. Getting my body into shape was first and foremost yes, but that great smile and the confidence that came with it bolstered my overall presence and command of the stage, which is a crucial component in bodybuilding. I know that feeling good about my smile and my presence will continue to help me grow as a person and competitive athlete. If there’s one thing I’ve learned it’s that one good decision leads to the next!
