A must-see, of course. You'll have to reserve tickets to get up to the crown far in advance, just a heads-up on that. Great views even if you don't climb the hot stairs to the crown, however, so it's not a huge loss if you can't do that. Wonderful island, nice sculptures -- it makes for a wonderful morning if you can get there before the serious crowds start arriving.

Great view, and actually not too crowded on the island, so you can walk around at leisure without bumping into people. However, it took forever to leave due to delayed ferries, and it was freezing cold on the pier with no shelter.

What a great American icon of liberty and freedom! I was truly inspired by it. I have two issues with it however. First, its been doing a pretty good job and scaring away pesky immigrants in the last 800 years (approx.), but I'm just not sure how effective it is anymore. Maybe we can get the torch replaced with a .50 cal rifle or a surface-to-air missile launcher since the inmigrants are coming in by air now? Second of all, our guide, Umberto, said that the statue was built in France... I almost fainted!!!1 Thats the kind of socialist mainstream media propaganda ISIS is taking advantage of to win the war! Whats next? The Capitol building was made in Russia??? Bald Eagle eggs are really imported from China??? Also, the guy from Jerry's Hot Dogs downstairs was stoned... and I'm pretty sure he's using canadian beef. Ew.

I've wanted to visit the Statue of Liberty since I was a kid and it did not disappoint. An inspiring monument to American values and our young nation's friendship with the French, it stands out on Liberty Island in the same way the Eiffel Tower stands out in Paris. We couldn't get crown tickets but the pedestal view is still stunning. I would also recommend using the free audio tour, as it has a lot of interesting history.

Hadn't been then since I was a toddler. It was great to go back so I could appreciate the significance. The ferry ride to and from wasn't bad at all. Didn't have to wait long. There were numerous shuttles running throughout the day.

Land of the free home of the brave!
