- Poor #41283
In general kids are performing on a high level, thanks to great effort of the parents and the students themselves. However, some teachers are incompetent and there is a lack of communication between the teachers and parents.

I think St. Stans Catholic Academy is a great school. I chose this school for my daughter for several reasons. Classes are small, the schools test scores are top notch and it give us a real sense of community and belonging, which is nice in a NYC neighborhood. At first before I knew much about the school, my impressions were that it was all Polish. However I was proven to be wrong in that there is a real mixture of people in the school and it is a great friendly environment. I also have to say, I was extremely impressed with their school function organization. The International Night Show and Christmas pageant were impressive and enjoyable experiences. They involved all the schools children from PreK3 through 8th Grade. Overall it has been a great experience for my daughter and I look forward to her spending the rest of her elementary school career there.

- Terrible #41285
I atteded ST. Stanislaus Kostka from 1989-1990. I spent all of one year there where I was bullied by the students and that bullying was encouraged by the 7th grade teacher at the time. It turns out that teachers expected money on parent teacher night to give students good grades. My family struggled financially and so my family would never have been able to afford a pay off for good grades. They also did not know that this was a custom at St. Stans (AKA Polish Prison). As a result I was ostracized by the students at the school. This culminated with three girls jumping me two years after I had left the school. As far as academics, St. Stans was behind P.S. 34 (the school I had come out of) by two years. I went on to JHS 126 after St. Stans whee I achieved Honor Roll and Arista two years in a row. I now have a Masters degree in Biological and Environmental Science and a strong conviction to never send my children to a Catholic School after my experiences at St. Stans. My advice is to not send your children to St. Stans.

St. Stans is the best school in the NYC area. The school has high educational standards for both the students and the faculty. Each year the school surpasses other schools on the New York State test. A safe environment for all children Pre-K through the 8th grade.
