Reviews to Spring Creek Towers
Let me start by saying (Spring Creek Towers) Starret City has beautiful apartments and they up keep the grounds on a regular bases.
With that said here are the CONS:
1) you wait forever to be called for an apartment
2) Rent goes up every year
3) Once you move in don't leave because you will NOT get your DEPOSIT back.
I lived in Starrett for 2 years and left the apt in great shape and they refused to give me back my money. They said they kept my deposit for prime and paint. I took them to court and won my case Starrett received a judgement against them. (Spring Creek Towers) Starrett City still has not paid me back my money and it has been 3 years.
At this point I am working on talking to the City counsel and writing a letter to "7 on your side" and "Help me Howard".
My suggestion to the public is save yourself the hassel and don't bother with (Spring Creek Towers) Starret City They are coorporate thieves. They steal from the little people and thats a shame.

I like my apartment. It's a great size in comparison to other apartments in Brooklyn, NY. Sometimes I feel like my rent is too high but when I see what's available in NY for the price I pay, the apartments are dumps and to get an apartment like mine would probably cost $1700-$2100 elsewhere in Brooklyn. I have friends that pay what I pay and sometimes more and they live in a box. The parking garage is very cheap and with all the new stores in Gateway Mall, I have to say I love where I live. I do not really need to go anywhere. All the stores are less than 5 minutes away including restaurants. Olive Garden, Red Lobster, Outback Steakhouse, Applebees, and they're putting up a Buffalo Wild Wings, then you have Denny's and IHOP. As for Supermarkets you have Pioneer now called Cherry Valley, Pathmark, Shoprite, and Associates. These stores are literally a few blocks away. I love where I live. I'll stay in Spring Creek until I decide to buy a home or condo.
Now as far as the process to get in. I've lived in Spring Creek 5 years now and I know the process all too well. I've experienced the same thing. I had the opportunity to have a one on one conversation with one of the ladies back there and I'll try to explain it as much as possible from what I know and what I've learned. When you apply, you get called in for an interview if your inital application indicate your income fall within the guidelines. They make you bring in all these documents on the interview. Depending on if you are applying for a 1, 2, or 3 bedroom will determine how long the wait is. The problem is by the time they reach your name if it's been over a year, they make you bring in the documents all over again because your file is considered outdated. Some people change jobs, some get promoted, some lose hours on their jobs, so much can change within a year. Unfortunately, if you make a dollar over, they will not let you in. It's sad but true and there are so many people who qualified for the apartment at the time they applied but by the time they were called, they made too much money. I ask this woman and I won't say her name, why they never tell you the income guidelines. It make sense of applicants to know. If you know you don't qualify then you won't waste your time applying but she said there are different lists for tenants and applicants. Some fall under the 236 Mitchell Lama, some are market value, some people have Section 8. All those things are considered with the guidelines. Quite frankly, they've had many applicants come in with fake documents to make themselves qualify, MANY applicants. It's one the reasons they need to verify everything over and over again. They are very strict about who they let in. Personally, I think it's a good thing. The neighborhood is good and crime free. There are a few rotten apples and every now and then something happen but it's far in between. I say apply and see what happens.

We applied years ago and last year they finally called us for an apartment. It's been a year later and we are still not in. Whenever we bring in the required paperwork Dione says she needs to see paperwork we already brought in. She even had the audacity to deny our application about 5 months ago because we 'failed to bring in all paperwork'. We called and got that resolved but a new issue pops up. Now she says the guidelines changed but she won't say what the guidelines are. She says we are no longer qualify for a 3 bedroom.
If you want a nice apartment please look elsewhere! I think this is a common issue.
