Yesterday, Dec 1st 2015 it was raining and i was walking. My phone died and I needed to call for a ride. i went into speedway on Bay st. Staten Island. I asked to use a pay phone... The attendant Monica told me to "we have no phone, get out". I apologized to her and tried to explain so she would allow me to use the phone. Being a regular customer I didn't think it would be a problem. I had just come from some garden work and I guess i was a little dirty, but how Monica treated me was horrible. She told me to leave and that she would call the cops if I didn't go. I then tried to buy some water in hopes that my purchase would legitimize me, but that was also refused by Monica the attendant and was threatened with police being called again. This was very humiliating and my request did not warrant such a nasty response. I am disabled cancer patient with one kidney. If I need to make call, use the bathroom or buy some water at my local Speedway. I would hope to be treated a little better by the people who are serving at the Speedway gas station. I never had this problem before at Speedway and was appalled by this attendants attitude towards my request. . IDK what i did to deserve this embarrassment. I spend $ at speedway every week day. I certainly hope the company has the good sense to remove this Monica attendant. In the mean time as a disabled person I will talk to my legal aid attorney and see if my civil rights where possibly violated. She could have at least sold me the water.
