I wish I could give this establishment no stars...I went to this cafe today and ordered a entree that was sold to a take out customer. I placed another order after waiting an 1 hour and a half for my original order and when waitress brought new entree out the food was ice cold...I went to the manager and as soon as I approached her she had her hand on her hip and an attitude on her face. I explained what had transpired and she began shouting at me that they were under staffed and my waitress was working hard because i was with a party of 13 family members. I told her that was not the response I was expecting and she continued to say that she was the owner and she dont have time for me when I could have asked my waitress to heat my cold food up. This business is run by an uneducated, unprofessional owner with no skills in customer service. WORST EXPERIENCE EVER AND I TRAVEL ALL OVER THE WORLD...I HAVE NEVER EXPERIENCED SUCH CLASSLESS BEHAVIOR FROM A BUSINESS OWNER.

It seems as though their staff has gotten friendlier, but I still feel jaded from my stops there last summer and this year as well as my trying to order otp this year: just rude, as though I was bothering them or ungrateful for their existance. I did stop in there a couple of weeks ago because I was desperate and the attitudes 360° , food was okay. Stopped in today, attitudes great. Food ok.

I felt compelled to write this review because of how pleasantly surprised this quaint place was. It started when my best friend and I were trying to go to Cuban Pete's to celebrate her Bday. well there must've been something going on in the theater near CP because there was absolutely NO [arking ANYWHERE! After driving around for about 20 min and seeing the long line at CP we decided to rethink our plans. My friend remembered hearing about a soul food place near Montclair so we Googled soul food restaurants in Orange. Then Southern Comfort popped up. We drove 13 min. to the restaurant which appeared to be in the middle of nowhere and looked like a tiny store front. When we parked and went in, we were escorted to the back which was very quaint and cute with a nice bar and tables. We chose to eat at the bar. My friend ordered the fried whiting and I had the baked chicken. Both of us had sides of Mac N Cheese and Collard Greens......OMG was all that food good! That is mine and my friend's new favorite soul food spot. The prices are reasonable, food is really good, the people are nice, and the ambiance is cozy. I did take 1 star away only because the dessert I wanted was not available....actually, only 1 dessert out of the couple they had was available. The one dessert I did have, Brown Sugar Pound Cake, was actually pretty good though.
:-)
