DONT GO HERE - this place will rip you off like crazy. Instead, there is a much better store called valley stream bike shop who will do a better job at everything and at cheaper prices. For bike parts, you should order in neither of these places and get them online at Amazon. Amazon is cheaper than bike shops since amazons profits are very slim and they sell a lot of them, while bike shops sell few products, therefore needing a bigger profit. However, if you want a new bike, there is no question you should spend it in lynbrook.(you shouldn't buy a bike online bc 1. It probably wasn't assembled correctly 2. At lynbrook you have a one year warrantee on parts and tune ups

$20 for a new tire tube? About $10 for tube but $10 labor for a 3 minute job? rip-off.

I went to the bike store in Valley Stream looking for Tommy Q, as I have done for nearly 20 years, and I was told that Tommy sold the store and was no longer in the bike business. Turns out I was intentionally lied to by the new owner. Tommy Q opened up a new and much better store just down the road in Lynbrook. You guys at South Shore Bicycle are seriously lame. If you can't be honest about something as simple as the store changing ownership, then I certainly can't trust you to work on my bicycle. I was willing to give you a chance, but you proved unworthy of my business. I will not be returning. Instead, it's two minutes down the road to Lynbrook... its worth the trip!

This place is great! I love going to a community location instead of a large department store. The staff knows you by name and its always a fun time! The bicycles are top notch quality. I would never buy bikes any where else after dealing with the guys at south shore bicycles. I especially like the girl with crazy hair and tattoos. Shes funny.

This was the worst service ever. I dropped my bike off for a tune-up on a Saturday and was told it would be ready by the next Friday. I go to pick it up and I'm told they are just starting to work on it. I miss my ride the next day and finally pick up my bike. I was told it was in proper working order but I soon found out that was not true. The main reason for taking the bike in for a tune-up is it's inability to move to the lower gears.
When I picked up my bike and take it for a ride it still couldn't go in to the lower gears. I take it back and the first question they ask me is if I did something to the gears. After got over my discuss, I explained to the clerk that if they had tested the bike and it worked, the nice freshly cleaned sprocket would have some oil on it like the gears they obviously tried.
I left the bike again for them to address the original issue I paid for. A week goes by with not even a call from the bike shop on the status of my bike. I call the store and I'm told it's not ready and they ordered new shifters and it would cost me another $98.00 for the new ones. After I explained it has been a week, and inquired what they doing with the bike for the past week,I was told a manager would call me within the hour. Two hours later I call back and I'm asked "The manager didn't call?" I'm put on hold and then told he said he called. I then explained to the clerk I didn't get a call and he didn't put the phone on hold as he called the manager on another phone.
The clerk then proceeds to apologize for my experience and inform me that my bike would be ready on Monday or Tuesday. I informed him that if they would have done what I paid for the first time; I would have no problem paying for new shifters but three weeks later and now being told I need new shifters, I have a problem. I told them to put my old shifters on and I would be picking my bike up.
The next phone call I received was from the owner. He was very apologetic, blamed his managers for all the issued and indicated they went against some of his policies. He said he was looking at the bike now and If I let him he would have it ready today. What's funny is that he got through to me on the first try on the phone number they had listed. He said he was call back in 20 min and he did. He said he would take care of the problem, replace the shifters and get my bike back to me. For once I was told the truth in this saga. I finally received my bike back in proper working order that day.
This is just another example of what happens when you leave someone else in charge of your business who does not have the owners best intrest at heart.
