Went to the South Brooklyn Health Center this morning at 8:30 to be treated for an outer ear infection. Dr. Lakbir Dhillon was not great, not very good either. Dr. Lakbir Dhillon was rushed, condescending and talked over me when I asked what to do about the persistent pain. He hurried though the questionnaire and glossed over asking me questions that he guessed the answer to (?). I was given some ear drops (antibiotic and steroid) which he said would also help ease the pain and a prescription for Clarithromycin. I told him I had taken at least 10 Advil the previous day and that I'm still in allot of pain (and it has been building for 10 days) - but forced myself to write this. He said take three Advil three times a day. Now it's later in the day, Im still in an immense amount of pain in my ear and jaw (sharp shooting pains) and spent the last 4 hours laying on the bathroom floor crying. Because of my experience with Dr. Lakbir Dhillon, I do not believe or feel that the South Brooklyn Health Center has lived up to being "committed to providing the highest standards of care to its patient and to the community it serves." I called the Clinic back and had a call returned to me by Dr. Lakbir Dhillon - I told him I was still in tons of pain and if it was possible for me to have some kind of a pain killer... He was again very unkind, told me to go to the ER, and told me that they don't advocate narcotics... I told him I did not want or ask for a narcotic and that I can not afford to go to the ER for a pain for an ear infection and that I relied on the clinic for their inexpensive service. I do not have health care coverage. He was close to shouting and I told him that I needed help, and that is why I called back. I thought that you are suppose to call a Dr. or service when you need medical treatment and help. I was being accused and disciplined and that I needed to wait. I'm just a patient with severe pain from an ear infection. Staff was friendly at the desk as well as the nurse who checked my vitals. I have already had this ear infection for 10 days and because I truly wanted to "tough it out" but couldn't - went to the South Brooklyn Health Center for help... They were only able to help partially. I left feeling like a criminal because I wanted them to help me manage the pain.
