I called Dr. Song's office after looking into orthodontic treatments for overbites/gummy smiles. I knew well into my research that orthagnathic surgery was probably going to be the route suggested by most orthodontists, but of course, to begin that process, you see an orthodontist first. I called the office, stating what my main concern was (the gummy smile/overbite/weak chin), & not only did the receptionist say Dr. Song would be glad to consult with me about it, but that she rarely ever sent anyone for surgery, even in quite complex cases, which I did think was too good to be true, but hey, different orthodontists have different approaches, and I was happy to hear any other suggestions. She told me there would be a $50 consult fee; I had made a couple of other appointments with other orthodontists that charged nothing for the initial consult, but she has such amazing reviews on here that I thought it was easily worth the $50.
I went in, checked in, got seated in the private room, and was immediately told that they were going to need to take xrays. None of the other orthos I went to needed to do this at the initial consult, and I was just trying to get my options in order, not trying to expose myself to unnecessary radiation, since I'm not even sure what I want to do yet. I politely said that I was just hoping to get more of a general consult to see what my options were, and then have xrays done accordingly after the fact. The assistant just said "Okay..." in a very different tone than her initial receptive one. She left the room and returned almost immediately with Dr. Song. There was immediately a weird vibe in the room, somewhat rushed, and almost like I was wasting their time. The doctor came in, and listened to my concerns for less than a minute and glanced in my mouth for a quick second, and immediately told me what I was expecting, that surgery would probably give to best results in my case. Totally fine, totally what I expected. So, I asked her what oral surgeons she's worked with in the area, and she replied that she, despite what her website says, doesn't work with any oral surgeons because "nobody really gets that surgery anymore." Seemed weird, since I'm sure that's a pretty routine surgery these days, but I replied, "Oh, because you catch these problems early these days, and prevent them?" and to that she replied no because oral surgeons don't tend to get reimbursed for the surgery, so they just don't perform it. So, shoutout to any oral surgeons in the area, Dr. Song is making y'all out to be money hungry doctors... ironic. Anyway, her assistant went and dug out an old business card from an oral surgeon in the area that she knew hardly anything about. Reassuring. She also mentioned that some dentists/orthos use TADs in patients, but she didn't know any doctors that used them, and she didn't use them. Okay, fine, but why, WHY, when I called the office stating my initial case did they encourage me to come in? I was very clear/detailed when I first called the office. The least they could have done was prepare and have some sort of information to give me when I came in. She barely spent 5 minutes in the room with me, actually laughed when I mentioned some symptoms that could be associated with the jaw misalignment(TMJ/teeth grinding/snoring/sleep apnea), and charged me $50 for it.
There are some fantastic orthodontists in the area. I've met with 2 others at this point who were thorough and direct. Both told me surgery, like Dr. Song, would be the best option, but were much more prepared to discuss options for my complaints. One gave me options for "camouflage treatment" which would be purely for aesthetic purposes in addition to jaw surgery information; I was uninterested in that sort of treatment, but I appreciated that she gave me options. Both gave me multiple recommendations for surgeons in the area. Those consults were both a good half an hour, much more thorough, and FREE.
There are good orthodontists in the area. Dr. Song is not one of them.

Dr. Song and her team treated both my daughters. I couldn't have been happier with how beautiful their teeth came out...just perfect and they are both smiling big now!
Her attention to each patient is incredible. She didn't rush anything in the treatment of my daughter and wouldn't take the braces off until she felt my daughter's teeth were ready.
The office staff is also wonderful....they help with insurance, billing questions and are very quick in responding.
I would HIGHLY recommend Dr. Sally Song to ANYONE who asks. You and your staff have meant so much to us!

I just finished my Invisalign treatment with Dr. Song and I am THRILLED with the results. I went from being super embarrassed about my smile to getting compliments on it all the time. They made it such a pleasant experience, too. Truly impressed at how they treat their patients, especially the fact that there is NEVER a wait! Thank you, Dr. Song!
