I had been suffering for over two years with severe lower back pain which made me incapable of walking more than a couple of city blocks without having to crouch and stretch my back. I purposely avoided surgery, thinking that it was too extreme and dangerous relative to even the significant pain and discomfort I was feeling. I tried physiotherapy, massage, acupuncture and just plain pain killers, all to no long term avail. Finally, upon recommendation by another physician, I went to see Dr. Snow. Dr. Snow gave me a proper examination and explained the pros and cons to a surgical solution. He suggested that he felt a laminectomy would alleviate the problem but did not present that as the only solution or even the most immediate. I felt under no pressure whatsoever to choose surgery, simply because that is what he does. Nevertheless, I chose that option as all others had been exhausted. The surgery itself was uneventful. I was up and walking without any significant pain whatsoever on the same day as the surgery. Now, two weeks later, and for the first time in more than two years, I walk normally without any pain. I had been given prescriptions for a huge number of pain killers upon leaving the hospital. I ended up taking two or three for the first couple of nights and even then, aspirin would probably have been enough. Of course, other people may react differently to the same surgery but in my case, Dr. Snow did a wonderful job on my back and has truly changed my life. On top of this, he is very friendly, accessible, and took plenty of time to go over any questions I had both prior to and following my surgery. From my experience, I highly recommend considering surgery to anyone who is suffering from long term pain caused by stenosis and I can certainly highly recommend Dr. Snow as the surgeon to choose.
