If Slope Realty/4G Realty is your landlord, be prepared to take a lot of time off from work. No repair made at our apartment has required less than two visits -- and 5-10 calls/emails to get those two visits made.

They flat out lie. They told us we were responsible for storing and curbing recycling even though NYC law says they have to provide it and do at other residences. They finally did provide bins a couple months after we had to provide them reference to the law.

We haven't had consistent hot water since we have lived here, contrary to the noises the landlord makes in notes to us. Heat also doesn't work on a regular basis, and slope doesn't respond in a timely fashion until complaints are filed with HPD/311.

When my girlfriend was locked out of the apartment because her key wouldn't work in the lock after business hours, she called their emergency number and no one responded. No one followed up to our complaints and I had to fix the lock (with graphite powder) myself.

It took months of repeated complaints about the front door not closing properly due to a faulty doorstop. This means that anyone could enter the building at anytime and that the door provided almost no security and the inner door can be pushed open with a single finger. The inner door still isn't fixed as of this writing.

They have been out 3-4 times to fix a leak that leaves the cabinet under the kitchen sink wet. It still isn't fixed.

Sadly, my gf lived in one of their buildings before and had a better experience. I am not sure how much better though as we might romanticize it due to the current horror show experience we have with Slope. One difference was that there was a super in her previous building so she contacted the super for issues and the super was fantastic. In the new place there is no super -- so we have to go through the least friendly office on the planet. These guys make the Van Brunt Post office workers on a bad day look downright joyous and pleasant.

This company is totally fine so far. I haven't moved out yet (i.e., don't know if they'll try to rip us off with the security deposit) but they've given no indication of that so far. They're responsive to our needs and the office staff is friendly. They're not sending us fruit baskets for the holidays or anything but they're absolutely fine. Ignore the reviews below.

I would give them 0 stars if I could. I cannot recommend anything about this company. The owners are only interested in collecting every penny they can and are not interested in even basic maintenance. They hide their names behind various corporations There are various tenant protection laws that they ignore and have even have been convicted in 2006 of discrimination. You will never get your apartment painted no matter how many years you live there. They do not let you know where your security deposit is. They do not credit interest to it no matter how many years you live there and they will not give it back! Stay away if you want a decent apartment.

Have to agree with statements below, as they apply to 181 PPW, too. Unfortunate, as apartments were tastefully renovated at one time. Common areas are always filthy; stairs and hallway floors never washed. Worst experience: no constructive response to leaks in bathroom ceiling. It's been 3 months and counting. Put cosmetic patches over the leak spots, which did nothing to stop the water, of course. Imagine the mold accumulating. Restored hot water within 24 hrs because required by law. Will regret moving when lease is up, because the location and garden views from my apt are lovely along with the room arrangement.

I've dealt with a number of "realty companies" in Brooklyn, and this one pretty much fits the bill of the standard slum lord. They have some decent buildings and some lousy ones, but the actual owners are IMPOSSIBLE to get a hold of. They are completely unresponsive, and they lose paperwork all the time. The women who answer the phone are friendly but unable to answer any questions that tenants have, and refuse to let you speak with the owners. We have had enough issues with hot water being shut off for days, broken steps in front of our building, and heat that doesn't work in the dead of winter. Unacceptable. Think twice before you rent from these slumlords.
