NEVER in my entire life have I been so disappointed and frustrated with a doctor or his staff. We moved into Millburn from out of town, almost three years ago and were happy to find an opthamologist who accepted our insurance. Since my first visit in June, 2011, we have been in several times. I got one bill, in 2011, which I asssumed was an error since Dr. Farbowitz was in our plan, and immediately returned it to Vicki in billing. I never heard another word from Vicki, Dr. Farbowitz or the front desk about unpaid bills. Nobody EVER told us that despite Dr. Farbowitz being part of the plan, that he was not getting paid by the insurance company.
As soon as I became aware of the unpaid bills, which was almost 2 1/2 years later, I called Vicki. She had no record that we had been given any notice of outstanding bills, other than the bill in from June 2011, to which I had already responded in 2011. She did not even have a copy of the letter I sent to her regarding the insurance. I immediately went to the office personally and spoke with Joy as Dr. Farbowitz would not even speak with my husband or myself.
HOW CAN WE BE HELD RESPONSIBLE FOR VISITS WE WOULD NEVER HAVE SCHEDULED HAD WE KNOWN THAT THE DOCTOR WAS NOT BEING PAID!!! WHY DIDN'T ANYONE IN THAT OFFICE EVER TELL US THAT THERE WAS MONEY OWED?? THERE IS NO WAY WE WOULD HAVE EVER RETURNED, SINCE THE ENTIRE POINT OF INSURANCE IS TO COVER MEDICAL EXPENSES!
THE PROBLEM IS THAT DR. FARBOWITZ AND HIS STAFF REFUSE TO EVEN SPEAK TO US OR COME TO ANY AGREEMENT!
