Shiva Shanti Yoga School

I love this yoga school! The space has a great energy, the classes are varied, the teachers are all highly skilled and very caring toward the students. Every month the teachers focus on a different theme (chakras, breath work, mantras, etc.) and I have learned so much. :-)

I love Shiva Shanti Yoga School.
I been practicing here several days a week and I found that some classes may be similar but what makes them unique are the instructors. Each instructors offers their own insights to this wonderful practice.
I found the school to be a special and inviting place. Namaste.

This place is a gem buried in Park Avenue in Rutherford. I have tried the Hot Yoga in Rutherford and this place for months and at Shiva the teachers truly live their philosophies and care about the students, they explain the moves, what effects some poses have in cleansing the body, there's also a beautiful chant or prayer toward the end and the relaxation time at the end is as important as the full class. This is a place full of great, relaxing, positive, expansive energy. I come out of the class feeling better mentally and physically.
My experience at Hot Yoga down the road was completely the opposite. I felt pressured to keep up with a class of experience students at 114 degrees. It felt like I was at a gym with meathead instructors with no regards for my physical condition and limitations. The clases were in a rush and all the instructors taught the same exact class. They always tried to push me to my limits which doesn't work for everyone. At Shiva nobody forces you to push yourself; all the contrary they tell you to exercise caution and do what your body feels it can do and progress will come. I am very happy I found Shiva and I highly recommend it to anyone. They also have a $30 for unlimited classes for a full month which is how I got there and it was well worth it.
Oh and the classes at Shiva are different with each instructor.
