My daughter was taking lessons with Emily. The grounds are beautiful, the staff are great & we both loved going there. We're going to resume lessons once again. There is a riding school 15min. from our house, in Brooklyn, NY but after trying out both, with no question we much rather drive the 45min., pay the tolls & gas to Seguine.
Highly recommend it for beginners & advanced.

I went there for summer camp and they were really good. I've only been on trail horses and horses at my neighbor's ranch but I've never taken lessons before. Seguine Equestrian Center taught me parts of the saddle, bridal, and horse. They taught us on how to take apart the bridal also. I learned how to groom a horse including under the hoof (with staff supervision), and what the different brushes were called and what they did. I learned where you can buy horse gear and what type of pants to wear. I learned about the different bits too! They even explained why cleaning stalls is important- if a horse hasn't drank and/or eaten and/or well, pooped, they are sick and must see a veternarian. I also learned how to hold your hand to give them carrots in such a way your fingers stay attached to you. I aslo learned NEVER to walk behind a horse as they may kick you, whether purposely or accidently only meaning to swat a fly. Speaking of which I also learned there is a "fly repellent" for horses just like humans! I learned they eat grass and hay and carrots. I loved Seguine because they treated the animals with respect, always checking to see if they needed water, making sure we didnt pull on there sensitive mouth. It was about us, but it was also about the horses. Seguine allows you to stay in contact with nature on there beautiful grounds- Petey and the other peacocks, Bella, Dulche, and Noah (I'm assuming that's how you spell it) the dogs (and Rusty), and of course the horses! As to riding techniques, I learned bareback, two point, posting, trotting, and walking. We even had a water balloon toss on the last day. This was only in five days! There's even more, but I wouldn't want to bore you.
