I always get my bike fixed there. They are always fast, helpful, and knowledgeable! Stinky is the best moped mechanic hands down! (I am sure everyone else is equally good)
To all the "shop hours are too expensive" people. Its not too expensive, you just can't afford it! You wanna watch hours of youtube videos and DIY your bike...more power to you. If you don't got time for all that you gotta pay the cost my man.

Why there is no -100?
My advice guys for everybody. Don't go. I REPEAT DONT GO TO THAT SOTRE. If u need fix your moped try to do this by your self but don't go there. I had some problems with carburetor and exhaust pipe, bulbs. I waste 2 or more weeks. Maybe three or more times they told me it will be ready today. So what I had. I spent 800$. The bike starting faster than previous time. Lights still not working. All turns signals worked. Problem was with bulbs. Now no turns signals no brake signal. My experience-your protection. And that porky guy drive me crazy. I asked him about price maybe 5 or more times. How much this, that. He didn't respond to me. He just sad that I will call u.

I bought my first moped here last year and I can safely say that Second Stroke is THE place in NYC to get the perfect vehicle for NYC. Besides mopeds, the shop offers helmets, waterproof covers, kryptonite chains (which I HIGHLY recommend, saved my bike from a thief who had to have been trying to saw off the chain for at least a week when I was out of town) and other accessories. Ari (not me, the Ari who owns the shop) and Pete are super helpful and friendly. As a first time rider and without the slightest clue as to how to change a spark plug I thought it would be intimidating walking into a garage full of moped fanatics, but I was very happy to find a place that was receptive and open to new riders; never condescending in their answers to what tasted like really stupid questions when they came out of my mouth. I ran into some problems with my bike last summer about 5 months after I purchased it (blown tube, exhaust issue) and they had my bike purring like new 2 days later. I thought what they charged for the necessary repairs was very reasonable. I stored my bike in their garage over the harsh winter for only 50 dollars per month where it was safe from the elements and would-be thieves. Going in this afternoon to pick it up after Pete put some new modifications on it - pumped that the weather is finally turning, I'll be riding everyday and I'll sleep soundly at night knowing Second Stroke will always be there for my moped related needs.

I bought a Tomos ST from Ari at Second Stroke in April 2012. One of the best decisions I have made. That little moped is great for NYC. I get around quickly and easily. Besides it is just plain fun to ride. I go everywhere. Brooklyn, Queens and all over Manhattan. You just can't go wrong for the price.
Service is great too! Ari keeps it running like it was brand new. I can't say enough about how great Second Stroke Mopeds is.
Forget the Vespa or the Piaggio or the Kymco. If you want cheap transportation with no headache get a Tomos from Second Stroke.

2nd stroke is the only place to go for moped service in...well it's the only one i know of in ny so...yeah...
anyway, it's a little shop packed with beautiful old bikes and the back where the work is done has even more mopeds from the last few centuries.
when the weather is good they have moped rides which are a thrill, if you don't mind people laughing a little at you.
The only downfall is they are pretty expensive when it comes to service work. And i say expensive in relative terms to how much mopeds cost in the first place. at something like 40 bucks an hour your small problem will cost you half what your scooter is worth. so only if you can't do work or you got a machine that can't go to waste then trust no one else with it.
