Seastreak Ferry - Atlantic Highlands Terminal

There's no better commute to the city.

The worst service ever!

Definitely not inexpensive. I took Seastreak on the last day of 2014 that they provided service to Sandy Hook (late September). $45 round trip. The ferry returning to Manhattan was 50 minutes late picking us up, and we were practically sitting on each other's laps on the return trip; many were standing. Not good service for the money.

taking the ferry is by far the nicest way to get to the city, although certainly the most extensive. however as a daily commuter, seastreak is very disappointing with their communication. Their aging fleet of boats often have mechanical issues leading to delays. Seastreak is inconsistent with informing riders to these delays, leading to missed rides and waiting.

for example, this morning the boat was delayed due to the cold weather and accumulation of ice. the boat was about 20 minutes late, which meant that all of the riders were waiting in line, outside in single digit temperatures. there was no notification or communication. Seastreaks office is a few hundred feet away, but no one could be bothered to come out and let the riders know that there would be a delay. once on the ferry, the captain informed us that it was due to ice buildup from last night. so that means they knew they would be running late since the night before, and had been running late all morning and just never bothered to post the information.

I have sent emails, left messages, and left voicemails about previous incidents. I have never once received a reply, telling me they really just don't care. for paying close to $8,000 per year to take the ferry, you think they could at least reply to an email. I live in Atlantic highlands so it is by far the most convenient commute to ny, but after waiting outside freezing yet again, I am looking at other options.

I really don't understand why no one made an announcement when we arrived Sandy hook.
Our 5 people group made the next stop and it total terrible idea.
We have to called a cab to pick us up to went back to Sandy hook.... the fare was like we get mugged
This is not funny, not only our group but also another 10 passenger made it wrong.

Tip... There's nothing in Sandy hook after labor day.
no food, not even coffee shop. It was very terrible experience.
