This is a beautiful carousel during the day and I imagine it being even more beautiful at night when the lighted carousel fish are truly visible. At $5, it's a great deal for a 3-4 minute ride. It's not fast at all and moves rather whimsically. They have a small souvenir shop at the entrance and take photos of everyone before the ride begins which you can purchase on the way out.
Pair the carousel with a free ride on the Staten Island Ferry.

Go at night. Absolutely beautiful to see the shimmering pastel colors of the fish against a dark, evening backdrop. Each ticket is five dollars, and for a musical ride that lasts a few minutes, it's worth it. Even the tickets themselves are pretty, good to save as a memento or to add in a scrapbook.

my kids and I enjoyed it. It is worth 5$ ticket. Make sure you select a seat inside the circle, otherwise you will not be moving up and down. We went during the day, but a night would be even better time to visit because the carousel lights up.

You do not need to be a kid to enjoy this magical and beautiful ride. Definitely go after sundown when you can appreciate the colorful lights of the sea creatures more. At $5 a person, you may not want to ride it all the time but definitely an affordable experience to try at least once.

Beautiful and amazing twist to a carousel! Fish that rotate and rise. We went in the afternoon, the nice lady inside told us that aft night is gorgeous with light and sea effects!! Adults and kids enjoy it! Recommended!!
