I've been taking classes here in person and online for more than 20 years. It's helped me to discover a depth in everyday experiences that nothing else can match. And by hearing the words from philosophers throughout history I find the answers to my greatest questions inside myself. Ever since I first heard of the philosophy of unity (advaita vedanta) it just clicked with everything in my own experience. And meditation has been an invaluable gift.

I've been a student at the school for nearly four years and have found my time there to be both joyful and transformative. New York City and modern life can engender a frantic, harsh approach to the world; I didn't think it was possible to find an antidote within the city and within myself. I'm incredibly grateful for the stillness that the School has brought my life. A review on Google or Yelp can never suffice for the real thing: I would encourage anyone curious about the School of Practical Philosophy to experience it for themselves. Good company and great soup!

What a wonderful example of service to the city! The school offers the continuing opportunity to test the philosophies of east and west against our everyday experience. What could be better? No need to take my word for it however. The introductory course is essentially free (with a small administrative fee). Have a taste and come back for more...

I am a longtime student at the School of Practical Philosophy, and keep returning because of its unique combination of practicality and "spirituality." You are not asked to take anything merely on faith, but to try out its principles in the laboratory of your life, and see if they lead to greater happiness and freedom. By offering the best of both Eastern and Western traditions, one is able to see the commonality behind them while seeking to answer the Master Question of the philosopher: What am I?

An incredible place - that teaches wisdom and kindness. There's no huge price tag, no pressure to return. I have been involved for about 3.5 years. I have learned more and gained more then I could ever convay in this little space. -
