Somewhat disappointing, when they first opened I went and had an array of great dishes but it seems to have gone downhill. The Bao BLT buns were good but the duck (most expensive thing we got) was lukewarm and chewy and the other dish was burnt.
Unfortunate because we were really looking forward to coming here.

I went to Salt & Fat for a small fixe prix menu during Queens restaurant week. The theme seems to be at least in part uncommon flavor combinations, but instead of pushing the envelope, they seem to settle for easy options, such as fruits with a sour sauce, which was a thing both in the appetizer and the dessert. The pork buns had very thick layers of fat. The food was fine, but nothing memorable, and the portions were on the small side for the price. The service was friendly and helpful. I wouldn't recommend this place for anyone staying in Manhattan, but Queens locals may want to check it out.

I expected more (because of the reviews), but it was okay at best. The menu doesn't offer many options. Mediocre food and subpar dining experience. I don't think I will be back.

Prefect for adult date night
I have to say, I'm impressed with the decor and service. The popcorn is as promised and not to be missed. The food is flavorful and presented well beyond for what I expected for the area. Korean barbeque is flavorful and I wanted more of the yellowtail tartar, which leads me wanted a little more in the portions but this is what makes it a perfect adult date night location, great amount and not a stuff whale at the end of the meal.
Also as a bonus, the floor layout is open, which is a thumbs up in my book.

This PLACE IS THE BEST. I haven't had such an awesome dinner in such a long time. Such a gem for QUEENS! When you enter in, it's like you are transported into a trendy restaurant in Manhattan. I'm sad that I haven't been here until now.
The decor reminded me of a cozy house and they don't only just give you glasses of water upon seating, but also a bag of popcorn popped in BACON FAT. How much better can you get ? The whole concept of SALT and FAT was constant through my whole experience here. Note that this restaurant is tapas style, so share food with a loved one and friends!!
We ordered the Korean BBQ wraps, Chicken duo and the Hanger steak.
Korean BBQ wraps were full of flavor. The dish consists of 3 lettuce leaves with steak pieces on it. Gulp it down with one bite to enjoy the flavors dancing on your tongue!!!
Chicken duo was probably my favorite dish. The chicken was cooked to perfection with the skin so crispy that it pops on your taste buds.
The Hanger steak was tender on the inside and a bit charred on the outside. Not exactly my favorite, but it was pretty good. THE POTATOES in this dish though.. oh my gosh -- I kept rolling my eyes with pure bliss. Once you bite the potato piece, it literally explodes with juice and tenderness.
The bill came out to $50. The waitress was so nice to us with such a positive manner, that I, for once in my life, tipped more than suggested. WILL DEFINITELY have to come back to eat MORE!!!!
